SpaceX's New Insane Raptor 3 just HUMILIATED the entire rocket industry
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for SpaceX's next masterpiece, the highly anticipated third-generation marvel of the Raptor family—Raptor 3—to make its grand debut.
Looks amazing, right?
This marks a significant milestone in SpaceX’s development. Even more exciting, none other than SpaceX founder Elon Musk himself has revealed the first images of this version, along with some astonishing revelations.
So, what did Elon Musk reveal? How will Raptor 3 impact SpaceX and the aerospace industry?
SpaceX's New Insane Raptor 3 just HUMILIATED the entire rocket industry
Let's dive into these details right now on today's episode of Great SpaceX.
It can be said that after four integrated flights with significant strides, everyone has been eagerly anticipating major changes with Starship. Over the past year, we’ve seen specific developments in the production system, the test system, the launch system, and the new version of Starship. The last piece of the puzzle we’ve been waiting for is the new engine version, Raptor 3.
The anticipation for Raptor 3 has been immense because, unlike other systems, Raptor 3 was first leaked from tests in mid-2022. Since then, Elon Musk has continuously teased Raptor 3 in company talks. I often found myself shouting, "Let it appear, please!"
And it seems Elon Musk heard my wish.
SpaceX's New Insane Raptor 3 just HUMILIATED the entire rocket industry
On August 2, Elon Musk unveiled the first image of Raptor 3 on X with the caption: "Raptor 3, SN1." To mark this important event, Musk even changed the cover image on his X page, featuring Raptor 3 standing in the middle, flanked by Raptor 1 and Raptor 2.
As the tweet revealed, the engine proudly displays the notable number 1. Number 1 signifies a new beginning. Please respond with “1” in the comment section to celebrate this meaningful milestone.
Next, we will discuss what you’re probably most interested in: the design. It looks extremely neat and simple, yet it implies a huge power behind the black cover. In fact, it matches the image that SpaceX revealed before.
Elon Musk described it as: “Truly, a work of art.” Even Everyday Astronaut expressed his awe: “This is absolutely absurd engineering to simplify an engine down like this.”

Less mass means less manufacturing cost. That and increased fuel efficiency means less travel cost. Finally, the simplification makes the engine more scalable, faster manufacturing time, etc. oh, lets not forget the engine shatters competition.

These motor changes reminded me of a BMW commercial during the 1990s. The BMW engine was known for less wiring, tubing, and clutter. Simple designs mean easy debugging when an issue is found! This looks like an engineering dream as the end result is cheaper, and the accounting department had nothing to do with this achievement! The longer you can keep from being associated with the John Deere direction, the better. Nothing Breaks like a Deere! If the ship is upgraded to a 12M diameter, will the launch pad be able to handle the extra erosion? I can't wait to see the variant Starships designs for different sized payloads! It would be cool to build a space station out of starships.

Good Morning, Kev. What an awesome sleek, clean design. Less parts means less parts to fail. Makes it easier to improve. Really straight-for-ward design. Less net weight of the rocket. Number "1". I would like to see what a Raptor Vac-3 would do. Great Episode. Have a Great Day. Kev.

Raptor 3 looks like a work of art 👍

I guess that means V4 is in the pipeline, the fun never ends.

I like the videos where they only talk about SpaceX. SpaceX really is doing exciting things in the aerospace field! Once Blue Orgin, Boeing or others start getting mentioned the videos get boring! GREAT SPACEX is a great channel!

Сначала тест - потом похвалы... Еще много тестов: раптор 3, 4, 5...15- ... Возможности есть! Тот, кто Долетит до Марса и обратно - тот и станет Лучшим! Удачи в разработках И полетах!

If more improvements to the Raptor 3 are possible on paper, SpaceX should continue until it reaches a temporary dead end...
