On this episode of Florida Roadside Attractions I visit Florida’s Oldest Tiki Bar! Bahi Hut of Sarasota Florida opened in 1954 and is still going strong! This is one of the coolest and most authentic places I’ve ever been to! I hope you enjoyed my experience in my tasting of their legendary Bahi Mai Thai (limit 2). also a re-visit, to to see the Uniroyal gal, and the Beatles yellow submarine of Bradenton.

WKXY Radio station played the bahi hut jingle growing up. Good Memories. Thanks.

Mai Kai IS. It is not shut down, it is going though a massive, much needed reno. It will reopen in the near future.

My favorite bar here in Sarasota. I love the Bahi Hut! The original bar (actual and physical bar top) has been relocated to the tasting room at the Siesta Key Rum distillery. It is also a cool place to visit/tour.

I can totally see the Brady Bunch staying here on a Florida adventure back in the 60’s.

I hope there can be a revival of places like this. Fewer chain eateries, more places like this!

I love that place. I used to go there all the time when I lived on Siesta Key and went to USF for my chemical engineering degree.
  • Thanks for showcasing the “Yellow Submarine” float! - Sincerely, The Beatles Yesterday and Today Podcast

I grew up in Sarasota and that place was been there as long as I can remember and clearly longer! I can remember seeing commercials for it on TV when I was young.

Jay, first hope you and Cris had an awesome Thanksgiving. The Bahi hut was very cool and had an old school vibe for sure I plan to stop in for an adult beverage when I get down that way again. Thanks again for bringing us along on the ride. Stay safe out there.
  • Jay, this was such a COOL retro tiki bar! It really was like stepping back in time! So awesome you had the whole place to yourself. Definitely a great value! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. Thank you for always taking us to wonderful places like this. Safe travels! 👋

Wow I used to drink at Bahi Hut in 1989to 1994 almost every weekend or nights my friends and I would go out. Lived on Bayshore Blvd. By Ringling Museum. Looks like It hasn't changed very much. Surprised that it's still open. I know a lot has changed in Bradenton and Sarasota over the years. I just enjoy your awesome videos Jay. Your abandoned places of Florida you go to a lot of places I been to and stopped at or at least drove by. My mother lived up in Bushnell and worked in Webster.

As a real tiki fan I would love to see the Bahi Hut. It’s not too far away from where I am. Thanks for posting this video.

One of the coolest old school bars in a state with many classic watering holes. Bahi Hut is real deal "Old Florida". So much more enjoyable than all these new bars that try to be nightclub/margaritaville/sports bars in one.

Just went to The Bahi Hut it was pretty cool. The drinks we had were great. Definitely had to get a t shirt with the beautiful Wahine!
