Ethiopia has begun generating power from Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
With the new source of electricity, Addis Ababa hopes to charge its economic development.
But the project is not sitting well, downstream.
It's has been a source of controversy from the time the first brick was layed a decade ago.
For Sudan and Egypt, the Nile River's waters are a lifeline for millions of their people.
Ehtiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed says there's nothing to worry about, and they should see the dam as an opportunity for all countries in the region.
So who stands to gain ... or lose?

Presenter: Sami Zeidan

Nile is a survival issue for Ethiopians too. The dam is being constructed with clear scientific and technical studies. But no one ever allows interference in to internal affairs.
  • Really sorry for Al Salam from the Sudan . GERD creats an opportunity for Sudan to develop lots of agricultural land using regulated Nile water which worries Egypt more than GERD itself . โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฉ
