A three-time Oscar winner, Meryl Streep is the most nominated performer in the acting categories, with 21 nominations between 1979 and 2018. Streep's total includes a record 17 best actress nominations. Seven actors have won three or more Oscars in the acting categories, with Katharine Hepburn being the only person to win four acting Oscars, spanning from her first in 1934 to her fourth in 1982. Ingrid Bergman and Streep each have two statuettes for leading and one supporting actress win, while Jack Nicholson nabbed the same tally for male actors. Daniel Day-Lewis became the first and currently only man to win three best actor Oscars, while Frances McDormand became only the second woman and third of her counterparts overall to achieve the same. Finally, Walter Brennan won his three supporting actor Oscars every other year between 1937 and 1941.

Al Pacino winning just one oscar is just unbelieveable . He has played characters that no one ever could potray and should at least have 3 or 4 oscars for his outstanding roles in some of the iconic movies .
-
Emma Stone now 2-4 and she's still young. With the right project there's always a chance for her to break Catherine Hepburn's 4 wins.
-
Daniel Day Lewis is the best of all times, he is the only one who has three Oscars for Best Actor, also he only has 22 films vs Jack Nicholson who has only one Oscar for Best Actor, and he has more than 50 films.
-
21 noms for Meryl Steeep is still a record

This is in both supporting & Best actor/actress. Daniel Day Lewis is the only actor to win three awards for Best Actor.

Peter O'Toole, nominated nominated 8 times + lifetime achievement academy award.

It is truly unfair that Samuel L. Jackson, Michelle Williams, and Willem Dafoe have not won an Oscar. Samuel L. Jackson deserves at least two or three trophies for his outstanding performances, yet he has only received one nomination for "Pulp Fiction." This is really unjust.
-
Did I miss Sidney Poitier? Hattie McDaniels? Cuba Gooding jr? Casey Affleck? Hally Berry!
-
Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Jack Nicholson, Laurence Olivier and Meryl Streep are the only members of the 10 or more nominations club.
-
Cate Blanchett should have 3 Oscars at least, she was so robbed for her role in Elizabeth.
-

That is real interesting, partly real surprising. Surprised that Daniel Day-Lewis is the best British performer in this ranking and in the TOP 10, also that Katherine Hepburn is No 1, or surprised, not surprised. And no 2 Meryl Streep, surely. She is awesome.
