Hey Knights! Come join us as we watch and react for the very first time to The Mummy Returns (2001) with the incredible Brendan Fraser. We hope you enjoy our movie reaction to this classic. The Mummy Returns was such a fun time filled with thrilling action and adventure with some hints of horror. As a sequel we think it definitely succeeded in capturing the essence that made the first movie The Mummy so successful whilst also keeping the dynamic fresh and new.

The electrifying chemistry between Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz as they reprise their iconic roles also returns with an energy that leaps off of the screen. This time facing a new wave of danger, ancient curses and the return of the terrifying Imhotep, brought to life by Arnold Vosloo who killed it in all the scenes he was in as the imposing Mummy!

We hope you enjoy our commentary as we unravel the film's intricate plot, examine the evolution of the characters, and marvel at the seamless blend of heart-stopping action, breathtaking visuals, and witty humor.

The Mummy franchise has become a timeless classic and we hope we get to bring you a little bit of that 90's and early 2000's nostalgia. Thank you for watching this with us ❤️

  • I actually feel sorry for Imhotep , for over 3000 years he was in love with her but in the end we could see that she wasn't
  • @ArdinVincent
Apparently the kid who played Alex was a MASSIVE fan of the first Mummy movie. He turned down a part in Harry Potter in favour of The Mummy Returns because he loved it so much.
  • Respect to Arnold Vosloo's acting; did you ever think you'd feel sad at a villain getting what he deserved? His realization that the love he had for Anck-Su-Namun paled in comparison to the couple you'd just spent your last few hours fighting.
  • @Mr808pocho
Evie and Rick are a prime example of POWER COUPLE!
  • @tigqc
When I was a kid, Rick catching the knife and throwing it back was my all time favorite action moment.

This was Dwayne Johnson's first role, that "heroric contract" wasn't a thing yet (I personally think he would excel at playing antagonists/villains). He was probably at the height of his wrestling popularity as "The Rock". The whole thing even spun into his wrestling career at the time, creating the "Hollywood Rock" era of his wrestling persona. He got his own, cool spinoff movie, "The Scorpion King," soon after due to his popularity, which I totally recommend, thus the big, Hollywood Action Hero, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was born...
  • Arnold Vosloo was awesome as Imhotep, those tears he shed at the end when Anck Su Namun left him to die.... we all felt that. Great Reaction guys!

I love that end moment where we see the difference between the relationships. Imhotep did love Anck Su Namun, but unfortunately her love wasn’t as deep. Meanwhile Evy and Rick constantly show how much they love and respect each other. I haven’t actually watched these movies in ages (and I’ve only seen the third one once) so I’d honestly forgotten how good of a couple they were.
  • @ciskilla
I love The Mummy 1 and 2. Eve and Rick are easily my favorite movie couples. The love, romance and attraction is palpable and feels so genuine.
  • @jarlhenrik
Fraser's deadpan "are you serious?" looks elevates so many of his interactions. He's able to say so much with just a look.
  • @valashar5313
Johnathon gets a bad rap so often but I think it's important to point out the timeline of these films. While Rick was in the Foreign Legion and ended up part of the doomed Hamunaptra expedition, Johnathon also served during World War I (most likely in the trenches of France). It's true he's a shiftabout scoundrel type, but he's also a former soldier likely dealing with the same soul destroying trauma that poisoned pretty much every trench soldier in that war. His way of dealing with it seems to be just going whole hog on being irresponsible, but at the moments it counts most he shines.
  • Evelyn is the reincarnation of Nefertiti, the daughter of the Pharoah and princess of Egypt. That is why she keeps having these memories of the past that happened thousands of years ago which she had been there but not, why she has her past life's knowledge in martial arts, and why she loves Egypt so much in the first part.
  • I love how when you said that the CGI was great for 2001 but then I was like just wait until the end with the Scorpion King 😂 I love the second Mummy movie just as much as the first. The third one does not exist in my eyes. So badly done and nothing like the first two. But The Revenge of the Mummy ride at Universal Studios in Orlando is one of my favorite roller coaster

“He never loses?! It’s in his contracts!” Love this
  • @Weigazod
It was such a great chapter about love. The actor of Imhotep was really great, especially the broken expression he had when he realized his love was not real. While both movies have many illogical things, I must say their comedy, action, and romance are very lovable.
  • @alywinter
49:54 never fails to make me laugh - it's not just the "NAIIIIIIIIIIY" it's the way Imhotep throws himself into the frame SO dramatically hahah
  • @vc6444
For me the Mummy movies worked cuz of Brendan Frazer and Rachel Weisz. I till date haven't watched the third part and won't watch it cuz Rachel is not in it. Brendan's and Rachel's on screen chemistry was perfect. The mummy movies for me ended with the Mummy returns. I had a great childhood watching this movie in a packed movie theater.
  • The concept of storytelling about the ultimate battle between good and evil that happened hundreds to billions of years ago is truly epic and legendary.
  • @jessc3007
These two movies have a special place in my heart. My late father and I enjoyed the first one so much it was one of the first DVDs he bought, and we were excited for the sequel. However I was traveling overseas when it came out, so he waited until I got home and took me to see it 2 days after I got back, and I loved it despite having a 12 hour jet lag. It makes me happy to see you two enjoy them so much. Even with that famously terrible scorpion king CGI, lol.
