So sad. In a separate article the family said they knew it wasn't going to make it. They said it wouldn't be a case of if but, but a case of when. In the meantime they're hoping a store and pie place they own will survive. It's been in their family since 1910 (the home was in the family for decades as well). Very sad.

I'm slowly watching my childhood erode, and it's more sad than I could've guessed.
-
My heart hurts for the home owner and all the people there and their memories.

To fix the dam was 15 million b4 this happened, i suspect it would be a whole lot more now
-
"...have seemed to turn into one giant puddle here." And her outfit. Someone give that woman a raise. Way to go, CBS.

America was rooting for the little house by the Dam but the Mighty River claimed it for its own. ๐ช
-
The numbers the man quoted to fix the dam is no longer viable. To fix the area that eroded away will be many millions of dollars.

Pauleen is MVP with all the coverage. Prayers to everyone affected.

These news presenters are the best dressed I have seen in a long while.๐

the river was getting so low the barges couldnt get through, its good to see it filling but like everything weather these days its all or nothing, sorry to see the losses.
-
That was a beautiful old home :(
-
At this point it's probably just about as expensive to fix the dam because now ypu have to span the space that erosion has opened up so, you'll have to fix the existing portion and add on so, might be cheaper to just take it down.

The new water fall is beautiful outside of loosing the beautiful house and land though! The dam not so much!

Why do people make fun of people and what they wear. If that is all I had to worry about. These people are like the mean group you hid from in high school.๐ฎ

This happens ?? every 5 years? Every 10? I remember there are larger cities with flooded downtowns, even buildings burning in the middle of flood waters...

What does MONTICELLO MINNESOTA LOOK LIKE ON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER ??

Praise that the dam held, but what good does that do when the river finds a way around it?
