This situation is getting so much attention. I don't think the Falcons were trying to be smarter than everyone and redo the system. I think they saw what they felt was a generational talent (4 teams tried to move up to get him!) and decided to make a move. Both of these guys have had major injuries, so it makes sense to be an insurance policy for the other, if that makes sense.

If they were 1 pass rusher away from competing and they did this than fine rake them over the coals But they weren't, there wasn't any single player in Round 1 that was going to instantly fix the Falcons so this whole storyline is for nothing, they addressed there other needs in the later rounds anyways
