Air Force Special Ops members earn Distinguished Flying Cross for saving Navy SEALs in trouble.

The Distinguished Flying Cross is a medal awarded to any officer or enlisted member of the United States armed forces who distinguishes himself or herself in support of operations by "heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight, subsequent to November 11, 1918." The decoration may also be given for an act performed prior to that date when the individual has been recommended for, but has not received the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross or Distinguished Service Medal.

    This same squadron (known as the 4th Air Commando Squadron back then) used the AC-47 Spookys to successfully defend over 500 special forces camps & hamlets throughout Vietnam. In fact, no allied installation was ever overrun by the Viet Cong when a spooky was called in for help.

    To me, it really doesn't matter what branch you're in: Special Ops is Special Ops, the baddest of the badasses, the elites, and come to the aid of one another. I'm sure those SEALs, the Army SPECOPS guys in Somalia, the F-14 pilot shot down in Desert Storm, or the countless number of Green Berets in 'Nam cared if it was "the do-nothing Air Farce" (I'm an Air Force vet, & heard that bullshit more times than I can count!) that saved them..disagree? Asked the soldier"s families & see what THEY say!

    @DynastyLang this is Sparta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • @redthreemike Sometimes you hear about when SEALs need to be rescued. You barely ever hear about the times that they don't need it.

    @nvhswrestler22 Probably an Air Force Combat Controller (CCT); Predator drone; or, maybe a SEAL trained in the same way a CCT member is (directing air strikes, etc.).....
  • @demon07nd
    only we would think of putting a fucking 105 artillery piece in a fucking air plane

    @redthreemike The only reason that SEALs find themselves getting messed up, is because they're sent in to accomplish the most dangerous types of DA/snatch-and-grab type missions. Look at Operation Redwing, where four SEALs took on hundreds of Taliban, and they dropped roughly a hundred of them before being wiped out themselves. Don't ever underestimate the US Navy SEALs, never in your life (I actually have experience with SEALs, so I know what I'm talking about).

    @TheDevenrocks Eh, I know of a couple SEALs that have gotten into more than one bar brawl with Marines lol
  • @baekalfen
    but how many did they kill saving 8 people? I'm glad they are alive, but war is not an option to solve problems...
