A self-destructive young Sergeant Hits and Kills a Taxi Driver instead in Tampere Finland March 2024

The 20 years old sergeant (contract position) had stolen a Toyota Hilux from his unit after having had drinks with his workmates and drove in an aggravated DUI state on a motorway from HΓ€meenlinna (Parola), Finland to Tampere for 70 kms where at the end of the motorway he then rear-ended a taxi, instantly killing the driver, aged 54. He himself got only mild injuries. He had called 911 (112) on the highway informing them of his self-destructive intentions, one of the patrol cars called on the scene caught the crash from the prime angle. A car wheel separated and hit the cruiser, the 2 police in it were unharmed.

The Sergeant got 9 years 5 months in prison and lost his military rank.
