This song will forever be associated with this movie for me.

Johnny 5 knows that he's dying... chooses to spend the last few minutes of his life to stop a criminal. He is a hero.

The beautiful thing is that Johnny 5 is dying pretty fast yet his only goal is to stop Oscar. He does it even though it will kill him. That is very deserving of this music.

30 years later this still feels like the most epic thing I've ever seen, even though intellectually I know it isn't.

I'm 43 and I still get emotional Johnny #5 is alive.

The sound of J5's power warning chimes ringing out to the chorus of this song is BURNED into my childhood brain...

Rare instance where the sequel was as good as the original and actually had some scenes that were more iconic and memorable than the original.. Whenever i think of short circuit this is always the first scene that comes to mind❤

I remember crying as a kid when I thought he was dead

This is a piece of cinematic masterpiece. The stakes are high, we root for Jhonny, he is in incredible pain and suffering and still he doesnt want to quit, still the time limit is also a reminder that failure and death is a very posible outcome.

Does anyone else other than me get a huge smile on my face and very emotional, to the point of crying when this scene comes on, in the movie.

Possibly the greatest scene in cinema history and the single reason why I start proclaiming 'Oscar you will not get away, I am really pissed off' whenever Bonnie Tyler comes onto the radio.

I remember crying in the theater as a kid when watching this. All the kids were yelling for him to make it!

I might come down as the most awkward comment on here but.. here it is: I was blessed to be rewatching this as a 37 years old today, with the person I’m the closest with on this earth. That person is terminally ill, and I will be losing her in the next few weeks. I remember becoming so emotional during that scene back when I was 8 years old, and seeing Johnny 5 doing all he could to do good before it would be too late for him. Today, Johnny 5 countdown to 0 was just as emotional as I know I will be losing my mother very soon. We are trying to capture a few last good moments despite the time running short. My mother rented this movie for me as a kid in the 80’, and it makes this silly/goofy movie very special to me... especially today.

Epic film. The official robot hero of the decade. they just don't make em like this anymore!!!

The use of this song in this movie and in Shrek 2 are probably the best examples of perfectly matching the music to the action of the movie to stir up all the feels.
