I'm just gonna say it: this is my favorite adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk.  I didn't see it in my childhood, so I have no nostalgic attachment to it and I still think it's the best adaptation of the story I've ever seen.

Oh God, memories! This is one trippy film! There is a sinister darkness to this one- Madam Hecuba will always remain one of the greatest movie villains to me, despite the fact most people don't know of her! Still can't work out what's going on with her and those cogs.
  • I know I wasn't born when this came out but my mum was and she had it on VHS and kept it all the way up to 2008 and that's how I remember this movie. I use to love it.

Aww this feels just like back in the old days when I was little and without any worries. My childhood is back :)))

I cannot believe I found this! I have been hunting for this animation for 15 maybe even 20 years . I last saw this as a child when I was 6 or 7 so you can imagine my memory was a bit fuzzy. I just had the vague recollection of a girl with hair that comes to a point on her head floating on clouds and the witch that was controlling her. I also knew it was Japanese but I completely forgot that this was Jack and The Beanstalk story! I am just so giddy with happiness right now. I have to find this on DVD!
  • This was the first time I watched in ages since I was a kid. Great Memories!! I wish it's available in DVD.

I am so happy the NC introduced this wonderfully trippy and awesome version of Jack and the Beanstalk to so many people who had no idea this thing even existed. I saw this movie when I was in Kindergarten and it left an imprint on my memory ever since. You don't forget something as gloriously insane as this, trust me. XD.

The bit where Jack looks at the painting of Tulip then back at Margaret XD - gets me everytime lol. I still love watching this film of Jack & the Beanstalk and the dark sinister tone of the characters/music works so well.
  • This is the kind of movie you watch when you're 4 or 5, only to ask yourself 10 years later: Did this movie exist?
  • This movie makes me feel good, and a bit strange at the same time.. Love the musics...

Madame Hecuba is one the scariest villains I´ve ever seen. She scared me as a child, and she still gives me the creeps...
  • I'm 33. In the early 80's, my mother rented this for me from the library. It was on either VHS or beta. It scared me as a child. Just so surreal. Those paper wedding guests—especially the priest—really scared me, even more than the witch and the giant. Don't know what made me look this up, but I actually watched the whole thing. What a trip.
