Roman could barely conceal his boredom during his interview with ATN Business, but waxed lyrical about a fly fishing trip to Montana with his father. Heartbreakingly, this turned out to be a repurposed “multi-use happy childhood memory” – Connor had actually taken him. What’s more, the old man rubbed Roman’s nose in it, cruelly sneering: “Aww, I wuv my daddy. I never figured you for a faggot.”

This dysfunctional family tableau was interrupted by 20 FBI agents storming the building. Logan issued his usual response, only for Gerri to tell him: “These are the ones who don’t fuck off. This is a search warrant.” Not only had the deputy attorney-general been spooked by Logan’s shady pow-wow with senior White House aide Michelle-Anne Vanderhoven (Linda Emond) but Kendall told his lawyer to push for a raid to show “the government’s not gone soft-cock on big corp”.

Things that are gay according to Logan Roy: - Loving your father - Vehicular manslaughter
  • I thought it was pretty sweet that even though these guys lacked a positive paternal figure atleast they had Conor. Growing up, Conor had no one.
  • “You know … a single multi-use positive childhood memory”
  • No other scene has ever displayed how a horrible parent Logan is. Not even when he hit Roman was as cold as saying “Your love for me is pathetic and what you think bonded us when you were a kid didn’t happen and I don’t give a shit about it”.
  • roman’s body language here is so telling. he crossed his arms in defense and started anxiously picking his nails when logan called him the slur. his dad makes him so uncomfortable and you can see it in every little gesture.
  • "Uhhhhhhh.... Brian, your line was I love you son."
  • Logan has never given a compliment that wasn't backhanded or malicious lol
  • @Elnont
Kieran Culkin’s body language is amazing here. Compared to Shiv and Kendall you can really see that despite being the most vulnerable and reliant on Logan, Roman is actually physically scared of him (unlike the other siblings).
  • Their mom said it best about Logan to Shiv "he never saw anything he loved that he didn't want to kick it just to see if it would come back"
  • Roman's terrified of his dad. He's never sure what Logan's going to throw at him next, but he knows it's going to be brutal and deeply cutting. And Logan's so indiscriminate in the way he hurls insults, it could be anything at any time, like thanking your son for doing an interview he didn't want to do and lie that you're a great dad, only to thank him by calling him a faggot. The whole scene is so far beyond ironic, it's shocking.
  • “He never found something that loved him that he wanted to kick just to see if it would come back.”
  • The acting in this show is phenomenal. Brian Cox obviously but I think Kieran Culkin is really underrated. His performance here says so much without all that much dialogue.
  • So interesting to see the shift in sympathies for Roman in certain quarters. Great storytelling
  • "he made me breathe funny." 😢 the way you can tell the exact moment roman knew that his father was going to pick on him bc this has happened to him plenty of times before for him not to know.

lol roman so desperate for approval. he always has the coolest pants though
  • There’s so much to hate about Logan in this (truncated) scene, but what first struck me, and still does when I rewatch, is Logan going around the back of the couch and sitting as far away from Roman as he can without falling out the window. Roman wisely (because he’s so used to it) situates himself by the door because he knows he will have to escape some cruelty, be it physical, verbal, emotional, or all of them.
  • It's incredibly sad that these kids are so used to abuse that they just laugh about it, even though they make it clear that they are very uncomfortable and hurt by their dad's verbal torture. But he'll never notice how much he's hurt his children because of how narcissistic he is.
  • It's toxic how a lot of parents mock saying "I love you" or expressing acceptance for their children because "We know how we feel."
