Big Buck Bunny tells the story of a giant rabbit with a heart bigger than himself. When one sunny day three rodents rudely harass him, something snaps... and the rabbit ain't no bunny anymore! In the typical cartoon tradition he prepares the nasty rodents a comical revenge.

An HD Youtube video in mid-2008, this was a period where most videos were still uploaded at 360p quality. Hard to believe.

Still the go to short film to inspire anyone to learn modeling/animation in Blender and I love Big Buck Bunny.
  • this film really brings some memories, i really liked it when i was a young child, but i never knew its real title, the story sequence remained stuck on my head till this minute. and here i am after 13 years decides to start learning about 3d stuff and picked blender to start with, just to find this film while randomly scrolling through the videos here and discover my little childhood memory was just made by blender, that is lovely !

I remember watching this animation one time in a small independent movie theater as one of the shorts before the movie. It's been a while, so watching it again and noticing things in greater detail is great as this is an awesomely made animation that focuses on free software and licensing.

That bunny just brutally murdered two smaller rodents But it looked crisp and sharp as hell so I'm fine with it.

There's an oddly high number of dislikes on this video. Why? what could people possibly dislike?

So beautifully animated. It's incredible what you can do with Blender.

Imagine the horror of rendering this
  • @thesmallhulk
That attention to detail in this animation is amazing!!
  • Always thought this was like one of those random movies that'd appear on like pirated/shady places (which it was) but I now appreciate it more knowing that it was more than just that and was made to show off the capabilities of Blender
