The original writer of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley, her father was called Godwin

Somebody from Filmthreat described this movie as "discovering the world only to have sex with Mark Ruffalo"
  • @BookMaven9
This movie was a complete breath of fresh air. The dialogue the acting the look of it was brilliant! I expect no less from Yorgos

I love how Joseph doesn’t know who Emma Stone is. Like she’s an unknown actress lmao 🤣 . She’s definitely on the A-lister plane of existence at this point.
  • @TimothyMReynolds
I LOVE this film. Would have loved to hear DaFoe speak about it. I was lucky enough to see THE LIGHTHOUSE with DaFoe doing a Q&A afterward. He is the coolest.
  • @KarloBello
i loved this film as well...! ooh you forgot to mention the scene where bella finds out she was pregnant from the scar on her stomach...also i usually adore Mark Ruffalo; he did a great job portraying a sleaseball!

I was waiting for this all year. The imagery takes me back to NIN's The Perfect Drug. We need this kind of creative head trip in cinema. Thank you both.

Had a really bad day today. Just got out of my screening and immediately watched your review, exactly what I needed. Beautiful film, brilliant performances, far and away one of the best in what has been a fantastic year. Love you two and always look forward to hearing your guys' thoughts.

    And it's a long sequence 😂

I have had so much fun looking all around the Internet at comments about “Poor Things”. Men who say that it’s too feminist and that it’s a man hating film. And then, in contrast, women who are saying it’s exploitative and perverted. It’s been so much fun. Prudes being offended by art is just so twee. 😊
  • @LateCambrian
This has been my most anticipated movie of the year.... I CANNOT art till it's open in NYC
  • What a damn movie. Seeing your 4.5 stars on letterboxd made me hype knowing a movie getting that kind of praise means it will be great, and it was spectacular.

Every doctor if you get to know him personally. So true Nick about how most doctors do have intense vices.

I had written this off as being “too weird” but you gents have changed my mind!!!💗
  • @puspavelai8353
Joseph's pick of a line on how 'she' knows what she knows' - allayed my initial 'fear' this was all too fantastic! "😂Methinks, the 'baby' blooming here could possibly be a "reincarnation" of her Mother! This song came to mind...I love you just way you are" and, "Don't go changing, to try and please me.." (Billy Joel classic!) 🤨

What a fantastic batshit blast! I Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and we got 2 homages this year. Birth/Rebirth being the other. Anyway, this movie is hilarious. And you guys are right, Stone's physicality is awesome. And the dialogue and it's delivery cadence is so fun. This whole movie is bonkers. And what a tremendous tale portraying the coming of age of a woman while at the same time leaving Ruffalo character in hilarious ruin. I feel like I'm saying, "this is my favorite movie of the year" like every other week now. imho 2023 has been an excellent year for film. Especially with social commentary. Oppenheimer. Barbie. Birth/Rebirth. Killers of the Flower Moon. Dream Scenario. American Fiction. Poor Things. Guys, it's been a great year. Awards season is gonna be bonkers. Also, this was an interesting palate cleanser from seeing Aquaman right before it. Ha

Good film and good review. I think the film kinda lags in parts (the ship and Paris) and I’m not really sure why this film glides over stuff like venereal diseases but the sets were very cool.
  • @biancachristie
The whole time I was watching this film, I kept thinking that this was what I wanted from Barbie; I know I'm not alone in seeing some parallels
  • @DaringDasher
This review just reminded me how much I LOVED this film and now I need to see it again! 😭
  • @UdoADHD
Also the ex husband is her father so she wanted to learn more about who she is.
