I love how hollywood-esc these glitches are: beeping sounds and corrupted audio files, text being replaced with random unicode characters, and weird graphical and functional bugs. It almost looks fake at this point.

explanation since many people dont know the reason unrelated dialogue shows up in portal is because portal is essentially modded hl2. lots of hl2 content was left over in portal, like test maps, weapons, vehicles, and of course the captions. the glitched noises happen because source reads sounds from memory instead of storage, so it doesn't crash trying to read data that doesn't exist. when it tries to write nonexistent data into memory, it doesn't write anything at all. so the static isn't just random, it's actual data! that's also why it sometimes plays random voice lines instead, because those are still in memory. gmod still has all of the hl2 voice lines, so that's why you them in gmod but not portal.
