Cryuff going to Feyenoord is like Messi going to Real Madrid. It's crazy!
-
Feyenoord just won the klassieker, and like kokcu said “they think they are the best but we are the ones taking 3 points back home. No words but deeds” which is also the motto of Feyenoord.

What did he mean "its hard not to love ajax" everybody in the netherlands, except their own fans, hate them
-
Feyenoord is one of the few old-school traditional football clubs left in North Western Europe with a strong identity of itself and independent. Reminds me of what English football clubs used to be before all the money poured in.

"It's hard not to love Ajax" Me, a PSV fan: achievement unlocked
-
Ajax has the stats, Feyenoord has the heart
-
The fact that Cruijf went to Feyenoord and win it all helped cementing him as a legend in Dutch Football in general

I migrated to New Zealand 20 years ago... still Feyenoord fan.. always!!! Born in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, the place were all great Feyenoord players lived like Coen Moelijn, Wim Jansen, Willen van Hanegem (de kromme) , etc etc

Ajax has the trophies and the money, Feyenoord has the fans the passion

As a Feyenoord supporters, thank you Rabona for posting this roots of the rivalry between Feyenoord Ajax. I have been waiting for so long for this video! Thank you Rabona🙏

Yes it’s true that Ajax are the most successful club in The Netherlands winning the most titles and trophies, it’s also true that Feyenoord was the first Dutch Club to win The Euro Cup 1 ( now known as the Champions League ) The Intercontinental Cup and the UEFA Cup, plus being the first Dutch Club to reach the final of the Conference League. Now to me one of the biggest differences between Ajax and Feyenoord is there fans, while there are of course on both sides diehard supporters who support their teams through and through, there are many so called Ajax “fans” that are only interested the club when things are going well, while Feyenoord fans go even when things are not going well at all . when Feyenoord lost 10-0 against P.S.V Eindhoven in 2010, De Kuip was still sold out for there next competition match, that’s how loyal Feyenoord fans are.

When I look at this rivalry, it's a bit like Marseille vs PSG. I'm a Marseillais born and raised and grew up hating PSG. The classique is pretty recent but it has the same animosity as the Klassieker : two cities which hate each other. Paris is like Amsterdam while Marseille is like Rotterdam. My dad is an Ajax fan and likes Netherlands. I might buy a Feyenoord jersey just to mess with him. Nice video, I learnt a lot about these cities and clubs.

you know, about 5 years ago, I started consistently watching Eredivisie. I got in mostly neutral, since I live very close to Rotterdam, Feyenoord would obviously become a very easy choice but I decided to just give all teams a go before actually "picking" a favourite. I still ended up with absolutely loving Feyenoord. The biggest reason being that when I visited a match, I completely fell in love with the atmosphere in the stadium... It'll probably sound very biased but Feyenoord easily has the best atmosphere during matches in the entire country, and its not even close... The amount of support from "het legioen" is something you won't see very much.

You could have also mentioned how twin brothers Jurrien Timber and Quinten Timber represent Ajax and Feyenoord respectively. Must be a fun family get together 😅

OH YESSSS! This weekend is a massive game!!

I am a big Feyenoord supporter and I think Feyenoord and Ajax are both beautiful and iconic football clubs. I'm not from Rotterdam and not from Amsterdam, but I'm from the east of the Netherlands. And as someone who does not come from the big city, I can say that Feyenoord has much more charm for me than Ajax. The big difference is that we at Feyenoord don't live for the prizes. Feyenoord is part of the city and whether they win prizes or not: the feeling for Feyenoord does not diminish. Unfortunately, that feeling is so strong that sometimes aggression is involved and I detest that, but in the end I always come back to the magical feeling that Feyenoord can give. And for me that is the biggest and most important difference between Feyenoord and Ajax. In the Netherlands I think you have comparable smaller clubs to Feyenoord, such as Go Ahead Eagles and FC Twente. But in my opinion Feyenoord can also be compared to clubs such as Celtic, Saint-Etienne, Borussia Dortmund, Real Betis, etc. If I also listen to the people I know personally who say they are for Ajax, then I think that they depend far too much on success. Visiting an Ajax match is a day out for many people, while there are many more supporters at Feyenoord who really have a bond or feeling with the club.

Completley upping the standard of football youtube. Better than any football journalism I can remember. This is an amazing video Adrian. Truly, Kudos.

When I was growing up in and near Amsterdam in the '90, close to where the old stadium De Meer was and the training complex was not far from my school in Diemen. There was always a kid at school that got picked up with the Ajax van to bring them to the training. Something of the old Ajax culture was lost when they moved to The Arena in de Bijlmer.

This series truly came back with a bang from South Africa to the Netherlands, love to see it.
