There are many people that take Farmers for granted, not realizing how crucially important Farmers are and how crop failures can sometimes devastate small and large acreage Farmers. I deeply appreciate and never take for granted what Farmers like yourself are doing to keep food on my table. Thank You.

I worked for a custom cutter in the summer of '66 as we worked the harvest northward. I was 15. Two of the cutter's sons, a couple of ex-cons who showed up at harvest time every year, and me. We drove the combines (Massey-Ferguson Super 92). No air conditioned cabs. It was hard, dirty, itchy work. I made $1 an hour. The cutter's wife and daughters would cook, set up the tables and feed us lunch every day. That was the high point of the day. Best dam food I ever ate. Drove us crazy as we circled the fields watching them set up for lunch. Ate in shifts since the combines never stopped until it was too dark to cut. Best summer ever.

That is how I was raised. Driving a truck to the field at 12 years old. Running a tractor or Combine by 13 years old. It was hard work, but priceless at the same time.

To: Texas Country Reporter & The Davis Family Farmers, (Thanks for your Sharing & Posting Your Video) I hope and pray your Children Stay on The Farm. But, should they not stay. I'm an old Cowboy, who loves Riding Horses. And wouldn't mind helping y'all. I Love and Miss "The Old & Simple Hard Life of Farming." To your young ones, I'd say, take it from someone who has lived on Farms, and went to work in The Cities of America. "You ain't Missing Nothing." And "Take your shoes Off, you All come back now, hear." I remember, when I worked at Sylvan Grove, Kansas, for The Meyer Family. When it was Wheat Harvest Time, we'd be out harvesting wheat for 15 to 17 hours Straight. I might be 60 years old but I miss Farming. Words of Wisdom: "Your not Sitting down, your not being LAZY, YOUR doing something...(doing Nothing=playing X-Box or Play Station) your doing Something... Build Character." Stupid Question by Reporter. "Is that Important?" Hell Yeah, that's Important. (That is what is wrong, with this Country, most Children are too dependent on their Government to take care of them. They want everything "Given to them" nobody wants to WORK FOR IT Anymore) "If you don't have Character, you can't get too far in Life." Smart Young man.

I love it. I grew up farming from an early age, unfortunately not my own land, but now at 54, understand and appreciate the life teachings it gave me. Keep these kids going in the right path. Wonderful family.
  • Thank you so much for continuing to bring us stories like this. Just good ole American families doing what made this country great. With values that come from hard work, learning and family love. I always look forward to seeing what you will bring us next.
  • I love Texas ,their children are really this great 👍. Look at what America grows !
  • I like how the kids address their dad yes sir when he gives them directions,God bless them this is how it's supposed to be,you can tell these kids love thier parents and same thing for the dad he has thier respect .This is America at it's finest! God bless our farmers ,they have to be vetrinarians, hortaculterests ,mechanics, engineers, carpinters, cooks, nutricinistes, operators of equipment, parents and God knows some kind of financial wizard to make it all work!!I once heard some smart ass refer to them as just dumb farmers Dumb my butt !Some of the smartesthard working people you'll ever meet.So when anyone makes fun of the farmers they get my dander up!
  • @pas42hfd
It’s great to see respectful hard working kids
  • @skillfulpeople
God bless the Davis family and those who work with them!
  • To hear the values expressed by this family, instead of, "The world owes me a living; I'm being mistreated.!, is inspiring and uplifting.
