I got a lot of requests for a Dark Angel tutorial as part of my basic schemes series so here you go! I chose Primaris Lieutenant Zakariah as a basis for this tutorial because I think the off white fabric really brightens the rather dark scheme! I hope you guys enjoy the tutorial and let me know wat else you would like to see me cover soon!

Here's my basing scheme for this model!

Thanks Andy, I don't see you in the shop anymore, but I still get your valuable advice online!!! For The Lion!!!!

This video has sealed the deal with how I want to paint up my Azrael. Thank you so much for going in depth with this build. Fantastic work!
  • Discovering your method has leveled up my painting like crazy. I've always loved contrast/speed paints, but layering up over them brings the whole model to the next level without adding a whole lot more time.

Lovely Job Andy. If the double pistol thing really bothers you I've found that it's fairly easy to clip off the Grip and Trigger guard from the holster and leave it empty.

Sounds awesome - I'd love to see your take on Blood Ravens!

Just started dark angels from leviathan and from the schemes I’ve seen I really agree on the edge highlights, just really doesn’t sit with me and the DA theme, exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
  • @flamingoflame
Definitely going for this more muted /military looking green over the standard mouldy apple look everyone else seems to go with

Hey, the lower volume on the music worked well for me. Thanks!

Dark angels are my marine army that I've come back time and again. And I've always struggled to find a dark green that I really like, I've done the gw method (don't like it at all) and I've gone for more attempt at natural osl highlighting which works....kinda. but this is Def the favourite one I've seen so far. I'll be giving this a try when I get more models for the dark angels.
  • Their colour scheme is very appropriate for this time of year. :D Since you're doing different chapters of Space Marines, I'd love to see you do different Orders of Sisters, different Leagues, and different Hive Fleets. I'm always curious how you'd do them. I hope you have a wonderful Holiday season, and I'm certainly looking forward to more Battle Reports too.

that's a really nice clean dark green with enough variation but still staying dark green :) something I like doing to most of my minis, especially space marines, is giving them what i call the "superman" treatment. he and many other superheroes got some for of belt or underwear on their hero suit that adds visual interest and break up the suit a bit. so i always paint the belt and belt buckle a different color to help break up the power armor, nothing fancy just some type of brown (light or dark doesn't matter) or a black-ish color with a metallic belt buckle. i find it helps a lot for me with visual interest :)

Dark Angels! My favourite chapter! The secretive plasma spammers are awesome! And you will never get bored of their scheme, because they got three! The robes are a great little thing to have dotted in their, creates a very unique aesthetic. Since you are looking for suggestions: I suggest taking a look at Craftworld Iybraesil. They got a really vibrant teal-y blue scheme that looks awesome. They also love themselves some Howling Banshees.

Had no clue there was an Irish content creator in the miniature space! This is awesome 🇮🇪
  • @ecMonify
nice work :D i've always hated how GW paint their dark angels with the Tron-like glowing edge highlights.
  • Thank you so much for making this video. I am also glad to hear that I wasn't the only one asking for your take on Dark Angels. For a future video suggestion I think it would be great to see how your method of contrast and layering would work for something with heavy texture and definition like fur. A Skaven model could be interesting with all the different fur color options that they have. Thank you for all that you do and the inspiration that watching your videos brings to making people want to put paint to plastic.

Dark Angels are on my short list of chapters I'd want to feild if I ever got the opportunity, so this was great to watch quick and simple. Could you do the Soul Drinkers when you get an opportunity? There's not many purple armies so seeing one them would be awesome! Great video as always Andy :)
