Let me know if you think we’re going to see Nintendo announce a price drop for the Switch family of systems this year or not! Also, please hit the like button before you leave! :)

I don't see too much panic here. First of all, this is just North America and it's just one month, typical a slow time of the year anyway.
  • @josh3684
If their sales projections are that high, then 2 things are likely to happen… strong software lineup this fall, but most likely a price drop is coming on hardware
  • @jongronli1421
I think they’ll drop the price at the Direct, do bundles, and, by the end of this year, drop the base Switch. Fact of the matter for dropping the base Switch is the chipset for the base Switch and Switch Lite has been out of production and unavailable for order since 2021. So there’s a ceiling on producible Switch and Switch Lite console units and the ceiling for retailable units that Nintendo is rapidly approaching, because they need about half of their last shipment from three years ago to be able to honor warranties and service requests. Switch OLED can last a bit longer because while its Tegra X1+ chipset is also no longer in production or available for order either, it has two benefits. First, there’s no Switch Lite OLED model to share the remaining Tegra X1+ chips and the end of production and shipping of the Tegra X1+ happened two years ago. So they’ve got a year of cushioning for that. Price drop guesses are: Switch Lite: $149.99 Base Switch: $249.99 Switch OLED: $299.99 Technically, they can still probably drop further and still probably be able to pull a profit, since one of the most expensive components (Chipset) is no longer in production. But too big of a price drop without the Switch successor coming out this year sends an entirely different message. I’d expect the drop to $99, $199 (assuming base Switch hasn’t been dropped by then), and $249.99 for the Switch Lite, Switch, and Switch OLED to be around launch of Switch 2. Bundles for each raising it back up to the original price. So a lot of the bundles are going to be focused on earlier evergreen titles. They might also re-release Super Mario 3D All Stars to bundle for the people who were interested in it but couldn’t get while it was out. Also more strategic special editions. Like if the rumored Fire Emblem remake comes out this year, a Fire Emblem themed set of Switch consoles. If the 2D HD remake of what’s sounding to be the first actual trilogy of Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior comes out this year, a Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior themed set of Switch consoles. If Metroid Prime 4 comes out late this year first to Switch as the start of Nintendo’s cross-gen build-up, Metroid-themed Switch and Switch OLED at least.
  • I’m expecting price drops and bundles to be announced when Nintendo officially unveils the Switch 2.
  • @jwpark417
It's simple. Switch 2 will be announced in October in conjunction with a $100 to $150 permanent price drop for OG Switch driving millions of sales through the holidays. Switch 2 launches in March '25.
  • @FTChomp9980
Good thing is prepping for a Switch Successor for next year with a Launch that would be awesome! So it makes sense why Switch sales are still declining.
  • @alecnowra784
Imagine the volume buttons where leaked for the next ten switch. 😂
  • I don’t think there’s anything to panic about and decline wasn’t comfortable when there was no big hitters this year for Nintendo but I can see paper Mario the thousand year door reigniting some sales but I think the Nintendo is well aware of the decline and they will adjust their forecast accordingly and a price is definitely on the cards and I think that will help them reach their target
  • I’m not completely sure what exactly the “shakeup” is. Like, what are we getting out of this explanation?
  • @redcrimson1028
The switch sales is falling behind because there are no new games worth playing on it. New releases are dry. If nintendo were smart? They should unlock that tegra x1 to allow devs to allow higher clock speeds and release games like starfox, punch out, kid icarus, mother and other dormant ip's. Also a signifcan low price drop will push them pass 13 million easy, especially if they want to best ps2 sales. Price drop.. Switch lite: $125-150 V2 model swit h $200 Oled model $250
  • @BowsettesFury
Got the gen 1 model, I play docked on a big screen OLED tv with a wired internet connection. There’s literally no point in “upgrading” to the red box or OLED for me. If they want people like me who play docked almost all the time they need more powerful hardware with newer games and back-compatibility. It’s just that simple. And if that doesn’t happen then I won’t be buying the “successor console” either.
  • There will be a big reveal of remade 3D Zelda games (can’t say which ones) for this switch, with a a slight upgrade package for next “switch”, Holiday season 2024
  • @flatcapman
I don't feel too freaked out over this. It could be just a apart of the year where sales on systems lag for a bit. If it keeps going on a downhill drop then start to sweat
  • @Filotus
I think sales are low because we're in a calm before the storm type situation
  • @shanestevick679
Sunbro. All depends on when Nintendo will announce or reveal the switch 2 this fiscal year. Will determine if the switch 2 will launch in March 2025 or not.
  • I don't really trust every rumor, but I do kind of expect a price drop for the Switch family of systems perhaps sometime later this year. And I do not expect them to suddenly discontinue the OG Switch the second Switch 2 releases and believe they might just see what the future holds. Though, they will carry over Switch accounts to the next generation. And perhaps 2027 or possibly sooner if sales drop hard is when they'll stop production or Switch updates outright, but Switch 2 will still save games carried over.
