The dialogue was brilliant and well acted. I still longed for "Ellie, you're treading on some mighty thin ice here". But, I'm so stoked that they still delivered an amazing scene.

During Joel’s emotional scene, the second his face wasn’t shown he sounded exactly like Joel from the game.

Bella's delivery on "Everybody fucking except for you" is heart wrenching, you can feel her pain.

The fact that there is so much pulled directly from the game is a testament to how good the original writing in the game is. Video games get a lot of flak from people who aren't into them, but there's a lot of games with amazing stories. If they'd just stick to the story we'd all have better shows (glares at Halo).

The show did a great job of showing Joel’s fear and vulnerability when it came to Ellie. That scene of him and Tommy was so well done, I loved how they did it.

Pedro and Bella are so getting Emmys after this. Phenomenal acting episode after episode. Absolute bonkers

Losing a kid in between playing the game for the first game and the second game coming out watching the show paints a different perspective and understanding . When they explained in the bts its true people deal with their grief upon losing a child in different ways and seeing joel look at what maybe couldve been sarah and her kid hit like a truck . Heart goes out to all the parents and or people grieving a loved one or child .

Joel and Ellie’s chemistry in the show is amazing

Pedro and bella were amazing during the episode just like in the game when they said the same quote.

The look Pedro gives Ellie after she said "I'm not her" is really intense. You can feel the anger and in eyes

You missed the line "first time seeing a monkey" and the part where he explains turnover

Really like the way they did it in the show compared to the game. It's like watching the game writers going over their work and making changes as they go along.

I'm glad I'm not alone in having wanted the "mighty thin ice" line lmao The scene was phenomenal and still just as good as the video game — different take, but it still hit hard.

One of my favorite scenes in the game and they fucking nailed it. Pedro and Bella are amazing. Definitely my favorite episode so far into the series.

Honestly i would’ve been happy if this arc for Joel and Ellie was spread over two episodes. This easily could’ve been a 10 episode mini series. This episode felt so rushed.

The scene when Joel says you're not my daughter made me tear up like a bitch

They shot the show in my city. I was so shocked to see they used my school (SAIT Polytechnics) to shoot their scenes. 😭 Sooo cool.

Both scenes are great and focus on different things creatively despite hitting a lot of the same notes. However, for me personally, the artistic directions taken for the scene in the game impacted me more. Feels like there is more subtlety in Joel's emotions and his fear of losing someone again that are communicated better there because they are subtle, and him using his anger to mask that. There is also more emotional push and pull in the game between anger, calming down, and the getting angry again which makes the scene more dynamic. Also, in the show, Ellie is far too antsy and aggressive all the time so her being aggressive here doesn't strike with the same force because it doesn't feel heightened from her usual mood.
