Absolutely love this program. UNC is the #1 reason why I started to follow college basketball. The JR Reid Era in particular. Loved that hi-top fade!

Love learning about the history of the Tar Heels, whether by book, video or word of mouth. Also, that goes about any sport or history of UNC.

I wish they'd make an updated DVD of this that spans the late 90s to 2017 national championship. It would be interesting to know more about Dean's retirement to when Roy took over.
  • As a lifelong Tar Heel fan I bought this documentary on VHS, I still own it and not the VHS machine! LOL!!! I just found out Lennie Rosenbluth passed away in June of 2022. My heartfelt condolences to Lennie’s family, friends and Carolina Basketball family. Not sure if the Men’s team honored his memory for the 2022-2023, but I’m hoping a moment of remembrance and silence by the fans happened at The Dean Dome as they shined a light on his retired jersey in the rafters.
  • Thank you for posting this. As a College Basketball historian, I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks very much. I had this years ago on VHS and never got around to converting it to DVD as I did other VHS tapes. Now I have it as an mp4.
  • I joined the US Coast Guard in 1992, my first duty station was in Michigan. I watched that national championship game in a sports bar in Michigan, being the only NC fan in the place, wearing my NC tar heels hat. Lets just say it was frosty the rest of the night. Inwardly, I was pretty happy but I was surrounded by pissed off Michigan fans.

The Tin Can was where we used to play intramural floor hockey. Fond memories of some of those old time venues.

The New Orleans Superdome has been very kind to UNC over the years, right?

Loved the Larry Miller and Charile Scott years. I still think there were better than UCLA. Miller only took 13 shots that title game. Why Dean ?

I wonder if Tar Heels basketball would ever have taken off had not it been for the infamous CCNY point-shaving scandal that killed NY basketball.

Dean Smith had this kind of personality where his teams just wanted to GIVE IT EVERYTHING THEY HAD for the team... Dean Smith, IMO was 1 in a Million-!!! He was the kind of person where you couldn't help but to like him, and pull for him and his teams... He was the kind of Coach that could beat another team by 25 points and just make a few comments about his team in the victory, then talk for 20 minutes about how 'Great' his opponents team was but just 'Had a bad night'-??????? 🤔🤣✌
