Actually, I would have winned the 8 year old actress, too. She was excellent, especially for an 8 year old!

My favorite thing about this movie is that Charlie's PTSD is treated realistically. The problem with mental illness is that it's in your head, and most people think that "in your head" means imaginary. Most other movies would have had Charlie focus his mind real hard and then make that shot. But mental illness doesn't work that way. This movie does it right: Charlie takes aim, and then has a breakdown and can't fire. He never succeeds. He never gets his hero moment. Because that's what mental illness does to people. And I really really appreciate that this movie acknowledges that.
  • you forgot the scene where Diana try to see the baby that was a big win

The no man land's scene always gets me to tears. Its amazing.

Remember kids, never fall in love with a person named Steve and has blonde hair and blue eyes and has an alternate life with the name of Chris because they'll sacrifice themselves in war and save the world.

I wish there had been a reference to Wonder Woman's invisible plane. But then again, that joke would have been too transparent for most people.
  • @Random-vo2bu
For anyone who didn’t know, the actress who played Diana was pregnant while filming. Truly inspiring.
  • I understand that no movie is perfect, but I REALLY appreciate this channel taking the time to point out all the good things about movies I enjoy... it just makes me happy

With regard to the claims that Wonder Woman "plagiarized" Captain America, I think that there's a relevant quote from Rick and Morty: "It looks like our stories had a common theme." "No, it was probably a cosmetic similarity that you're misinterpreting as thematic."

Okay so my favorite things about this movie I got on second viewing of it. (spoilers) On the boat Diana said that she wanted Steve to take her to the front, he asks why and she says it's because Ares would be in the place where the conflict was most intense. This is amazing because instead Steve takes her to the British war room where everyone is arguing over what to do... and Ares is there. He took her to the place of greatest conflict and discord, the generals arguing over what to do with the troops, the war and the negotiations of a peace he'd never let come. I just think that's a great little detail.

I just loved the fact that this movie wasn't: "Women are better than men, watch this invincible mary sue win as everyone else sits in the back forever!" but was more of: "No one is perfect, watch this powerful woman with realistic flaws struggle and fight for what she believes in along with the help of her allies who matter as well."
  • What's funny is the whole scene on the boat where she's talking about the "men are only needed for pleasure" was all improv between Chris and Gal. That was one of my favorite scenes. Haha

i never knew how to explain why Cinema Sins bothered me until I found this channel and my life expectancy increased by 20%

I'm sorry... NO WINS FOR COSTUME DESIGN?! I'm not even talking about Diana's garb, we've seen that before... This movie made WW1 come alive in a way I've seen no other movie do. Showing everything from London society - upper and lower class - to the gorgeous uniforms of the German elite (Ludendorff looks damn fine in that getup) to ALL the soldiers and officers, in the Ottoman, French, British and German armies to the ordinary small-town Belgian citizens... The costume department DESERVES the Oscar for this one.

15:12 Plus, when she says "Goodbye brother" she's accepting who she is and is then getting full control of her powers.
  • I'd add one more huge and emphatic win to this film for presenting a 'couple' in Steve and Diana who are accepting of one another's strengths and weaknesses, and not only coexist in harmony, but work together toward a common goal -- this despite Diana being significantly -- if not awesomely -- more powerful than Steve. There's no wounded male ego or 'girl power' nonsense to get in the way. The fact that Steve doesn't fall prey to the social mores that insist he should resist/chastise Diana shows him to be a stronger, more confident man, and hence, he is made all the more likable (to me at least). I really like the premise of your channel CinemaWins!

We cant igonre the fact that Chris Pine absolutely owned his role as Steve Trevor!

I saw this at movie theatre, and the no man's land scene made me have so many chills. That was so damn epic.
  • The soldiers hugging kind of makes sense, given the number of stories from World War 1 of soldiers from both sides showing some remarkable levels of human decency, given how dehumanising war can be. It seemed like a decent bit of closure to the argument over whether Ares made people evil or whether people were just evil sometimes. Enemy soldiers aren't necessarily evil. They're not even necessarily enemies. Plus, yes, they just saw literal gods throw down, so there's that, too.

Every time I see the No Man’s Land scene, I get endless chills and tears are almost brought to my eyes. This has never happened to me with any other movie, and I think it proves - to me, at least - why this is one of my favorites of all time.
