So the script was so shit he refused to say his lines? GOAT.
-
I would watch Christopher Lee making a sandwich at this point.
-
Christopher Lee is THE MOST interesting man in the world.
-
Rather than say "We both played Dracula" Lee says "He made his name, as indeed did I, in the playing of a certain rather strange Transylvanian nobleman." Christopher Lee could read from the phone book and make it interesting. What class. What a master.

this needs to be put in context. he overrode the writers, at the start of his own career. he wasnt yet the legend he is today. that showed both great judgment on his part(in choosing mute over shitty lines) and massive balls to potentially risk his career in overriding the writers of the movie for their shitty lines.

As a hungarian I'm utterly grateful that he insisted to use the proper pronounciation of Lugosi's name.

I was so deeply saddened by Christopher Lee's death. His very last performance being Saruman from The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies. He is forever missed. And he was a true actor who would literally become the characters he played.
-
"These lines suck so much - I'll just do it mute! Watch me!" I don't think that's been done many times in film history, succesfully or not.

R.I.P. Sir Christopher Lee. At least now you and Peter are finally reunited.
-
shame he never got his hand on the ONE ring though lol
-
Reminder that this man straight iced people during WWII.
-
Whoever wrote "I am the apocalypse" thought he was making the darkest, most metal dialogue ever... only to be immortalized in an interview with (a true metal god) Christopher Lee decrying it as being "beyond belief" and "unsayable." Poor bastard.
-
As a hungarian whos name is Béla. The way hé pronunced it was spot on.
-
Christopher Lee gets handed a Dracula script “So, you have chosen death”
-
"I am the apocalypse!" Lol! Hats off to Christopher for having the integrity to say 'no'. His silent portrayal of Dracula was a hell of a lot more menacing.
-
He played a very menacing Dracula, almost animalistic
-
I cannot imagine Dracula saying "I am the apocalypse". Who thought that was a good idea?!
-
He had enough respect for the original text that he refused to butcher it. An astounding and frightening Dracula.
-
I have heard that Lee could be difficult to work with. Hearing him give reasons you can see why he was here. It has been written better before why not just do it that way. I like him giving credit to the original author.

Christopher Lee's Dracula had such a powerful presence about him, he overshadowed everyone else in the film. He didn't need any diologue.
