International Jawa CZ Yedzi Day 2016 On A Babetta

Published 2016-07-16
I decided to use the smallest Jawa CZ bike in my garage to take in the International Jawa CZ Yedzi Day global big ride (10th July 2016), which is my Jawa ZMV 210 X40 2 speed Babetta moped.

Being the 210 X40 2 speed never restricted version of the more common retricted Babetta 210 X25 and 210 X30, it is kind of fast for a traditional pedal moped. The difference being in the silencer back pressure plate (12mm. holes instead of 6mm. (X25) and 8mm. (X30) holes) plus the baffle is hugely different even just to look at.

Top speed attained on this run was 38.4 MPH according to the calibrated digital speedo fitted (The OEM one underreads by 6 MPH).

On the badly maintained uneven local Dorset roads on a Babetta with undamped suspension, flexible swinging arm, barely adequate brakes plus the riding position, such speeds never feel entirely safe, just a challenge to achieve.

Babetta mopeds are lots of fun, are faster than the old Puch Maxi and even manage to co-star in a certain Parisian themed Pepsi TV advertisement recently.

Also not as uncool than being seen riding a sc**ter!!
