the IT outage yesterday was caused by microsoft windows allowing crowdstrike's falcon sensor to access a reserved space of memory within windows operating system at the kernel system driver-level which deals with processes between hardware and software. a lot of it is automated at the user-end level but someone at microsoft gave the go-ahead for the memory access violation to occur (accidentally or intentionally) which would send the operating system into a blue screen because crowdstrike had attempted to access a memory address which is reserved for microsoft windows itself but it's easy to blame crowdstrike, now imagine if this code had been accidentially implemented at the nuclear level instead of the kernel level..

Customers should demand that corporations fire CrowdStrike and hire a better firm that tests their software updates completely. Corporations should also look at replacing vital systems with linux, not that linux can't have problems but not all your eggs should be in the Microsoft basket.
