My first ever Video (it shows). During my IT career I have often had access to retired PCs. This is an outline of the process I use to make them useable for home users.

Tools:
dban.org/ - Darik's Boot an Nuke, a program to securely erase hard drives.
rufus.ie/ - Rufus, the program I used to make the DBAN Iso Image bootable (not mentioned in the video)

www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ - Libreoffice, a free and open source Office program
peazip.github.io/ - Peazip, a free and open source compression utility
get.adobe.com/reader - Adobe reader, a popular PDF reader program.
java.com/en/download/manual.jsp - Java Downloads, allowing for java apps and webpages to function on your pc.
www.cccp-project.net/ - Combined Community Codec Pack, a collection common codec files. Codecs allow the computer to decode and playback Media files.
cdburnerxp.se/en/download - A free CD Burning software.
