Miffy and Melanie fly in an airplane with Uncle Pilot to the Far East. In a beautiful park with trees filled with pink blossoms, they meet a boy named Taka who teaches them to bow when you meet someone. They have lunch in a restaurant, that is run by Taka’s parents and have a funny time trying to eat seaweed and rice with chopsticks. After lunch Taka has a surprise for them, it’s a kite! But Miffy doesn’t like Taka’s kite which has the face of a scary dragon. Taka explains that where he lives, dragons aren’t scary - they bring good luck. This helps Miffy get over her fears and soon they’re all flying the dragon kite - celebrating the good luck of making new friends.
