In this episode my Yamaha XJR400 gets delivered back to me after a 2 month long engine rebuild. It was a long process which had it's ups and downs but it's time to finally go for a test ride with the project nearing completion. Unfortunately, the test ride does not go as planned and disappointment prevails. Enjoy the Ride!

  • I’ve never felt so gutted in my life. What a beautiful bike. Looking at an XJR400 myself at the moment. There is just something about this bike I love.

Good luck with your bike , hope all works out well with repairs and we were locked out of Thailand this winter so I truly enjoy you videos. Again good luck from Detroit
  • I spent more on a used bike for repairs than for a new bike. So learned the hard way.

Love your channel. A couple comments, I believe that you can get top notch work done in Thailand especially on smaller high performance bikes. With 4 carbs it would run like crap but it would still keep running unless all four carbs were blocked which I think unlikely. My bet is on the wiring (spark). You said it was little bit of a bodge job on the harness already, add that they pulled "some" of it apart during the rebuild/aftermarket gauge cluster removal and add that your gauges were not working when you took delivery of it. Probably needs a new harness or a full re-wire. Easier than an overhaul, just a whole bunch of time with a meter.

I absolutely love the bike model and your set-up, praying they get it right soon. Sometimes things go wrong, I just try again.

It is just great that you have such philosophical attitude to setbacks and disappointment. It’s the only way to truly enjoy life. Something for all of us to learn and practice daily. I also loved that soulful piano music you added to the scene of your paddling the dead bike around. Very cool! I am sure it’s all going to work out in the end. The bike looks great, just needs a little more TLC from the mechs. Thanks for the very enjoyable vid. Ciao.

I love the melancholy music when the engine fails.....At least you know your starter motor works: LOL. A used bike like this that has been cannibalised will have ongoing issues, that's part of the fun, and you're just adding to it by the modifications you are now making.

Aww my friend your disappointment was felt by your subs all over. We all were patient and waiting and the way the bike flagged out. That bike is an iconic model with the parts most likely phased out. Hopefully the solution is a simple one. Cheer up big man 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Bin looking forward to seeing and hearing the finished bike. Gutted it ran like crap, hopefully gets sorted soon brother 👍.
  • As they say no Spanish "no words" you summed it up when you got off the bike. Quality

Just after the bike broke down...theme song to 'SUMMER OF 42'....great choice...classic
  • I'm no bike enthusiast but it looks amazing! Shame you're going to have to wait just a little longer. I'm sure it's going to be worth it though. Love the piano! Suited the moment perfectly! Stay positive

I thought we were going to hear you cuss for the first time on a video lol. These things happen and are sent to test us, good for you staying positive and taking it in your stride. It just means we have another video to look forward to when its finally, keep smiling.

As a fellow biker, sorry to see it did not turn out as expected. Hopefully, they get it right the second time. Thanks for sharing- looking forward to more photos. It looks sweet!
  • I was really excited and have been looking forward to this story. Then it all fell flat. Oh well at least they say they will sort it out and you will get to to another video on it! I look forward to that.

Stay positive, there’s a lot of different reasons for this everything from not properly synced to fuel delivery issues! However there’s a lot of good riding time left it’s not like winter in North America is around the corner. All the best from 🇨🇦

Sometimes stuff happens. I applaud your upbeat attitude.
