I got to play this yesterday in my orchestra, live on the national radio station. Needless to say that it was a huge success.
  • I'm a competent pianist and composer but this piece started me off on my journey to be a cellist. It moves me beyond words. Soon, I hope, I'll be able to play it and I plan to perform it ay my own funeral!! Thank you so much for this glimpse of what I have to do to perform this wonderful piece.

My favorite piece by Fauré... A little 5 minute piece full of Emotion, deepness and melancholy...

This piece does something to my soul. Darkens it. And this is why I love it.

I've been assigned to play this by my private teacher and it honestly terrifies me. I am a bassist and have never played anything like this before but I love the piece

Having come to Faure's music at the age of 58 and only having known a handful of his music prior to this I have to say that I am totally captivated by his music and his manner of writing. Before I started to investigate his music and perform a series of interpretations with just piano and violin I had always found his music slightly difficult to listen to. Maybe it was because I was younger or just didn't give enough time to it, but how I missed out! His music is for music's sake and purely from the heart. Don't miss out on a wonderful experience. Open your ears, heart and mind and you will discover another world.
  • My master was one of his personal students and told me many anecdotes about him. They always come back to me when I listen to his music. Especially this one.
  • I literally bawled my eyes out listening to this! Absolutely gorgeous!

Amazing I listen to this when I want to hear the piano and make sure my cello part is sounding okay

Here from This War of Mine. This original version is a lot more melancholic, the sadness is flowing in a slow crawl. TWOM version is more... Desperate, I could say? The higher pitch and the fact that the survivors are put in such a bleak, horrible place, trying to outlive the war. Definitely gave that vibe. This is really nice.
  • J'ai 16 ans, je suis pas bizarre décalé ni harcelé, j'aime aller voir des dessins animés au cinéma, mais mon père est violoncelliste, et je pleure tellement c'est beau

I am familiar with this in performacnes by more famous performances but really enjoyed this one both for its forthright courage in the heavier sections and its delicate lightness where required - and the gradations between the two. And what a work!

4:50 Mon préféré: un grand relâchement après une section lourde et tendue. Parfait pour amorcer la fin.
