During the first night of the Republican National Convention on July 15, 2024, Donald Trump made a triumphant appearance, receiving a raucous ovation from the party faithful just two days after narrowly escaping an assassination attempt that grazed his right ear. Trump was heavily guarded by a team of tall and robust security personnel.

Social media clips circulated showing female Secret Service agents appearing nervous and struggling during the incident. One agent was observed on video having difficulty holstering her gun, prompting viral commentary online. Reports indicated that some agents seemed hesitant or panicked in their response.

Criticism on platforms like Twitter suggested that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives might have been to blame for these perceived lapses. Some comments implied that the presence of female agents hindered the protection efforts, with accusations of incompetence and cowardice.

Questions arose about how the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, managed to approach Trump’s rally at Butler County Fairgrounds in Pennsylvania. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle acknowledged shortcomings in security, labeling the lapse as unacceptable and noting potential failures in coordination with local law enforcement.

In the aftermath, there was social media discourse about the composition of Trump’s security detail, with some users noting a shift away from recent DEI hires. The incident stirred debate over the role and readiness of female agents in high-stakes security details.

Hire them for their skill and talent not for political correctness or diversity, this will not happen
  • You didn’t hire them because of skill, you hired them because you wanted diversity, look what it almost cost us.

These policies are threatening the wellbeing of the nation... period

The woman that couldn't holster her weapon apparently has worked in the SS for 25 years. She claimed that she was so exhausted and sleep deprived that she was just too tired to holster her weapon. The SS does indeed overwork their agents, but if you've been an SS man or woman for 25 years you should be able to brush that off as that's something you had 2 plus decades to get used to

Making it seem like people are mean because she’s incompetent at her job is crazy. DEI hire. I promise you she didn’t pass the same training or has half the experience of any of the men.

When trump was trying to get in the vehicle after the shooting, this women shown here attempted to holster her weapon multiple times, when unable to find her holster, she went back to holding it with a readied posture. Odd behavior for sure.

When a bodyguard needs a stepladder to cover her charge, you've got problems.
