About Adventures Made From Scratch: I’m just a regular guy who likes to find adventure in day to day life. We may not be able to go travel the world, but there are plenty of opportunities at our door step. I do a mix of vintage car stuff, scrapyard stuff, nature hiking, and who knows what else?!? Come with me as I take you along for a ride in my world!

  • 4:02 The sunlight through the red tail lights on those fins is awesome 👌 Looks like someone sitting in there, foot on the brakes, and waiting to roar off into the dusty sunset

I absolutely love it when someone takes a walk thru video of salvage/junk yards. I understand that some are too big to see all, but your time is much appreciated! I thought about doing this as well, and I figured an owner probably wouldn't want me there filming his/her stuff. I even thought of breaking up a walk-thru into separate videos of the yard was too big. Thank you very much for the video!!

At 25:50 that’s a SIMCA Aronde, made in France in the 50’s. These were imported by Chrysler as Chrysler didn’t have their own small car yet. Truly a unique find!
  • Your doing just fine Silas. The internet is full of idiots who think they know everything. You save more than most people do. Keep on truckin’.

Man what a blast from the past!. And the cars are in a great line that you are not climbing thru bushes and trees and all kinds of crap! Nice set up!! Looks like you have cars from.all the decades and even foreign models!!
  • What a iron gold mine! I could spend days there! Love to save some of those Corvairs, Rare 61 Oldsmobile limo, & Cadillac professional cars (especially the ambulances and flower cars). I spotted several vairy stripped Corvairs! We've got a guy coming up from Oregon to get the quarter panel off a '62 700 sedan! I spotted at least 3 Forward Control Corvair 95 (Corvan & 2 Greenbriers!) That red '61Corvair Greenbrier had a spot light on it (wonder if it was a fire dept rig, I've seen a few). What a great video! Glad you got some goodies!

The DeSoto (roof rack inc!) reminds me A LOT of Howard Cunningham's (Happy Days) car. For me, the Olds limo and the 68/69 Chevy p/u sitting side by side.

Used to have a budy down in western Tenn. with a salvage yard, he'd sell whole cars, sell stripping rights to a car, all you could take off in a day (possibly two is he was feeling generous) but never pulled a part himself. Unfortunately he passed away about 20 years ago

Favorites of mine Silas, 1961 Corvair “Lakewood” station wagon, 1964-65 Mustang hardtop, 1970 Ford “Maverick”. If you have any intact and are in the giving mood! Great as always, buddy.

Junkyard tours are good therapy for both the body and soul. Thank you for bringing us along!
  • @dougbelanger3479
I will inquire about the 1970 Lincolns at :41 in your opening drone shot. Thanks and keep up the salvage yard videos. If not for guys like you, we would never know about this stuff. I have been able to get 2 of these through videos like this. 62,000 views in 17 hours!

Good explanation of the difference between parting and recycling. Never knew that. Thanks!
  • @rjjen1696
thanks again for the great tour - love their cool classic selection
  • @JohnShinn1960
I despise those 4 door T Bird landaus, a good portion of the rear pillar is fake and literally runs across the rear door glass, what a hoot! 46:20 Thanks for the tour Silas! Lookin forward to the next. 🤠👍 (Viewed at 1.5x playback speed to make needed tim

Hi Silas The Plymouth Valiant with wheel on trunk from 59-61. There were some 1962 that had them. The 1957 Chevrolet they produced more Bel-airs than the 210. I am a Mopar man myself
  • @williamlloyd3769
Silas, have you ever dreamed about a salvage yard? Incredible!
  • Those two funky bumpers are on 46-48 Lincolns, not Packards. There was another one in their too. Lots of old luxury cars in Texas. Great salvage yard,,,Izzy,,,

Honda Civics were available for a few years with a CVCC engine; CVCC stood for Controlled Vortex Combustion Chamber, essentially a pre-combustion engine with a small intake valve in the precup with the sparkplug and of course the large combustion chamber was configured as normal but with no spark plug. There were two intake valves, one of which was normal and near the exhaust valve, but the other intake valve was relatively tiny and was of course in the top of the pre-cup near the spark plug. The idea being the richer mixture in the pre-cup would ignite the lean mixture in the main combustion chamber. The carburetor was configured with one small throat jetted richer and one jetted leaner; the thing worked well, got good fuel mileage while meeting the strict exhaust emission standards of the day. I remember those well because i worked on them often back when they were being sold.
