in the end, ellie faces her biggest fear. she has no one. not even joels song, she cant even play his song. shes truly alone

That last part where Ellie says "Im scared of ending up alone" sent chills down my spine.

When I completed the game the first time I felt so angry and so hurt. I was literally sitting on my ass not knowing what to do with my life. No game has ever made me feel so many different things all at once. I loved Neil’s writing in the first game and I love it even more after playing the 2nd game. It’s such a heartbreaking story but I still love it because it’s provocative, terrifying, sad and beautiful all at once.

Ashley Johnson brought so much to the role of Ellie. Her Mocap sessions are a joy to watch.

Why does Naughty Dog insist on making this girl's life a living nightmare? She never knew her parents, grew up during the apocalypse, never had a real childhood, her best friend and love interest was bitten, she was nearly raped, killed, and eaten by a cannibalistic pedophile, her father figure was brutally murdered in front of her, a lot of her friends died, she lost her girlfriend and her surrogate son, and she lost two fingers and her ability to play the guitar. All of this before she's even turned 20. Ellie deserves to be happy. Seeing all this horrific stuff happen to her just breaks my heart.

Ellie, the girl that was once the light of The Last of Us, not just because of her immunity, but her personality, then became the darkest corner of the game.

A cruel game but full of love. A sad story but full of joy. A story of a revenge that turns out to be full of forgiveness and redemption.

She lost everyone. The bitter sweetness is that she didnt lose her humanity at the end. Still one of the most tragic characters to grace our lives.
