  • For years I've been convinced Bear and Sheep are dating and that has not changed to this day
  • @nateclone3828
I explicitly remember one specific episode where the duck had to fix up a spider web, and for w and e he goes on these big adventures to find them, but for the letter B he just goes to dog's giant pre-established pile of letters in his house and grabs it. And you can very explicitly see many ws and es in the shot. Why duck didn't just start at the word pile I will never know

5:58 So the rules are all “guidelines” that are never consistent? This really IS a show about learning English!
  • @wingedkatgirl
I remember my parents making my sister watch the “bed” episode several times to help get her b’s and d’s straight 😂

So glad to see this being covered cause this was a big part of my childhood.

I was CONVINCED that Word World didn’t exist for a part of my life because nobody else had any recollection of it existing. I’m so glad to see it getting the hype it deserves!
  • Even when I was watching this show as a little kid I always thought Sheep and Bear were dating. I also definitely thought frog and duck were dating too

You should do one for Wild Kratts. As an animal lover it was my jam, but looking back the concept was insane. The premise was their suits could give them abilities just like the animals featured in the show, but they had to touch the animal to scan its DNA first to activate the powers. So they had to touch hippos and tigers before they could do anything lol Also the villains were wacky and insane even including a Cruella DeVil and Fabio knockoffs duo.

Part of me thinks that the audience is just represented because someone, at some point, spelled out "Y O U" and that created our insight into this world- just an everpresent figure who exists for no reason other than to bear witness to shenanigans. Also this feels like Typoman Jr, which is a nifty concept tbh
  • As a parent, I have literally been joking for YEARS how much I needed to see a film theory about the horrifying canon of Word World. Thank you!!
  • We like to say languages like Russian, Polish, Basque, and Mandarin are complicated, but this shows that even the English language can be complicated. Like how those learning the language see words like tear, present and live and think it's pronounced one way when it can be pronounced two ways depending on the meaning. Or the varieties of the language when a word can mean something innocent in one English-speaking country but something very different in another. And Veronica Taylor isn't just the OG Ash Ketchum! She was also the OG Delia Ketchum, May, April in the 2003 TMNT series, the 4Kids dub voice of Nico from One Piece, and Sailor Pluto from Sailor Moon!

One thing I always wondered is if you could make verbs and adjectives in WordWorld. Also, what would happen if they made a human?
  • @SaintSentry
My only experience with the show was being laid up in a hospital bed as a teen and it playing on the TV. Thought I hallucinated it.
  • The concept of this world fascinated me as a child and I remember asking my parents tons of questions about the lore as if they would have any idea what the answers were lol. I remember once I realized they only ever made nouns that they should have called it Noun Town. Idk I always wanted to go in to Dog's letter pit and see what I could make and I feel like I liked to theorize about potential designs of words and characters in the world. I regularly questioned the animation gag of them appearing one letter at a time and really wanted to see what would happen if they truly came apart. You can some how break apart water or the night sky, why are bears or frogs immune to this? Also, one last question that burned in child me's brain, if you broke apart someone's house, what would happen to the things inside? Are they just stored inside the letters somehow?
  • Here’s other shows to possibly look over one day: - Toopy & Binoo - Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends - George Shrinks - Peep and the Big Wide World - Babar - Bear in the Big Blue House - Little Bear - Ruby Gloom - Harry & his Bucket Full of Dinosaurs - Max & Ruby - Zoboomafoo - Clifford the Big Red Dog - Magic School Bus
  • Dude this video is summoning memories from DEEP within my subconscious. Seeing the word "rope" spelled out again was a trip
  • Wordworld was one of the foundations of my TV viewing experience....and seeing it from one of the most iconic "This children's show is absolutely nuts" content creators there is makes me happy. Amazing work as always, you're so dedicated to your research and this is no doubt a good form of conservation for these shows, some of which will undoubtedly end up Thanos Snapped by their networks.
  • As someone who doesn't have english as their first language, this cartoon helped me a lot as a child and I never thought I'd hear about it years later lol
