Not sure if y’all caught this. In the text he said it wasn’t a relationship (the reason he stood her up the first time). It was someone he was “talking” to. But when he on the stage sitting beside her, he said it was because of the “relationship”. That man was taken and is probably still emotionally unavailable. I wonder if the other woman is his child’s mother, which makes even more sense.
