Right now put everything into words for me. The feeling of guilt and loneliness from leaving your family and everything you’ve ever known but simultaneously feeling of finally finding yourself BECAUSE of leaving. And how contradicting it feels wanting to go home so bad but knowing it won’t be good for you.

She wrote the first verse of 'Right now' while on tour (posted a snippet of it a while ago). Hence the verse about being on a (tour) bus! I think the song deals with the bittersweetness of growing up and moving on because she is homesick for her family and hometown, while also touring the world and finally feeling free from her past relationship. that's why she says she feels more alive "somehow" because even though shes far from the people and home she loves, shes never felt more like herself.

For me ”Right now“ is clearly about tour. She’s feeling homesick, all the people remind her that she’s introverted, but she still feels more alive than ever, because she loves what she is doing.

The line "I'm your ghost right now, your house is haunted" is a reference to her song 'I miss you, I'm sorry' in which she says "Every corner of this house is haunted"

The “👀 relatable” from Emily KILLED ME 😂😂😂😂

I’d like to say that Right Now is my favorite song on the album, but it’s because it captures an incredibly specific feeling that I went through when I left home to study at college. I felt the most myself I had ever been and so alive while doing what I’d always dreamed of, but also incredibly homesick to the point where I was constantly questioning my decision to move out. The fact that there’s never a release in the song makes sense to me because I’m not sure those feelings will ever completely resolve, just like the song never does. It’s always a tug from both sides, no part of me ever truly winning. It’s like ok, half of me feels the best I have EVER felt but half of me wants to run home. So have I made the right decision? Also, the first and second verse actually discuss her leaving on tour! (the tour bus, the “someone’s hometown” and writing down the street signs, etc) As always, I love the content and love you both❤️

I also feel like "Good Riddance" is such a great title for this album - it's about her working through and ultimately ridding herself of the relationship and circumstance she was in for half a decade, exploring and finding new love, and ultimately, feeling "like myself right now" :)

In the span of like three days I went from “idk maybe Gracie’s music isn’t for me” to “full machine is one of the greatest songs ever written in this essay i will-”

the blue feels like a beautiful combination of begin again and king of my heart, and i’m absolutely obsessed with it

to me, right now is moving away from home for the first time. the contradiction of feeling homesick but also feeling excited for this next phase in her life is the verses vs the chorus!! also, she grew up in California, then went to uni in New York, so the lyrics “pretty far from the ocean” and “every lake here is frozen”. the part about losing her friends, family and her brother not understanding her leaving is just such a moving away from home thing.

i think the best way to explain my interpretation of right now is the feeling of moving out of your hometown because you’re going to college, and feeling homesick but also starting to get to know yourself better. it’s like that lyric from matilda by harry styles “you don’t have to be sorry for leaving and growing up”. because even though you miss your family&hometown, you’re feeling more like yourself right now, and that’s okay
