Great video of the mating dance!  A pair will continue to do this dance just for fun, all year round, including tossing things around.  My parents had flags set out beside their sprinkler heads and the cranes found it great fun to toss those about.  Same with the babies on my spider plant. lol
  • Live in central florida and just saw 2 out side my door on the golf course...doing this mating dance very awesome to watch.

Thanks for posting this video. I've never been able to see cranes in person. These guys look like they're having a blast haha.
  • Great capture of these stunning birds & their dance! I love how they toss the stick. Thank you so much for posting :)
  • I know I already PM'd you but I love this video sooo much. You truly did well to capture this, I can totally put myself in your shoes and feel the excitement and disbelief you felt as you watched and filmed away. Terrific job with a professional touch!! A huge thumbs up!!

Camping out in Heber, Utah and saw these birds outside, they were walking around and probably looking for food dropped by campers. A little while later they had walked off and started jumping up and down as well as preening their feathers. It was very fun to watch!

  • Watching them flailing reminds me of those videos of the men on the moon bouncing up and kinda flailing around. Super funny and cute, I love these guys.

Great video! I got to see this once here in Minnesota. Also watched them as they seem to dance in the air, flying and sort of circling around each other. They're beautiful birds! Thanks for posting this :)

I just the local cranes do this in my backyard!!! It was so wholesome
  • I've been in Florida for roughly a year now and a few days ago was when I first heard an actual sandhill crane noise. I've also seen one sitting down which was quite entertaining. This video really makes me want to see a sandhill crane mating dance in real life.

I had two sandhill cranes do this after I threw some apple pieces on the front yard for them. Does it mean they appreciated the apples? lol
