What I did, since the change, was pop a voidlord, get as far back as possible, then throw the spear. Once the voidwalker got very low, I soulsharded a second one, by the time the second one died, I'd gotten the quest done.

Works as of 5.4.2. Be sure not to put your Voidwalker in Assist mode, or it'll agro too quick after your first spell and die befire it can despawn. Put him in passive, agro Nalak, cast lance, wait the latest you can, send the void walker as you click your gateway and get up the stairs. If you go too far too quick, quest add will despawn, you must find the balance between having Nalak to despawn and the quest add to follow you. Like in the video ;)

Thumbs up! He didn't despawn on my first go and caught up to me and killed me but 2nd attempt he did despawn as per vid and nailed it. Yay.

Gateways didn't work for me because for some reason it wouldn't let me put one down?! However, I did use a demonic circle and then teleported myself. Worked like a charm! XD

Keep in mind, I managed this without Nalak even despawning. I just made my voidlord aggro him from about a third of the way to the ToT entrance from the center. By the time nalak actually reached me (he cast lightning tether first) the spirit was dead.
