  • Everyone partying because Ron and Hermione are prefects Moody: Hey Harry wanna see all these people who died

vernon: "you're listening to the news?" "AGAIN?" harry: "well, it changes every day, you see?"
  • 47:25 He downplayed just how dirty they did Ron in this scene. In the book, not only does he not do any of the gloating/"I let her win". Ron actually beats Hermione in the duel, and when he's celebrating she says "Okay, so you disarmed me once. I beat you 13 times." And Ron replies, "Yeah. I beat you once!" Basically showing just how much he respects her skill that he considers disarming her once a major victory.

“ I’m sorry professor, but I must not tell lies” is the single greatest added line in the whole Harry Potter franchise.
  • "But, in the movie they had Hermione do it." The Harry Potter series in a nutshell.

A really good conversation: “Potter has as much chance of becoming an auror as dumbledore coming back!” “A very good chance then!!”

Fred and George telling Peeves to "give Umbridge hell" is special ... because Peeves acknowledges this, which is about the only time he ever listened to anyone.
  • I'm a huge Neville fan. I was so upset that the scene at Saint Mungos was left out. His grandmother so proudly explaining about his parents is where I start crying. By the time his mom gives him the gum wrapper before they leave and Neville puts it in his pocket I am sobbing. For me,, this is the most powerful moment in the entire series.

"There's a lot that happened in between those scenes" is becoming so iconic right now!

I wish they added the scene in McGonagall's office in the movie. It starts out so tense and then it's just broken by McGonagall offering Harry a biscuit. I generally laugh every time I read this. It also gives some insight to Umbridge and her position in the school.

One of my most depressing Parts about this book was when Harry found the mirror after Sirius died and was immediately hit with a wave of depression. He had forgotten entirely that he was given that mirror to communicate with sirius and that all of that could have been avoided if he had just used the mirror and remembered it. It just made him feel guilty and added on to the feeling that he caused his death.

One of my favorite scenes was Harry’s career council with Minerva and Umbridge. Minerva: “Life huh? So…career?” Harry: “Mabye an Auror?” Minerva: “Well you have done great in Defense Against the Dark Arts-“ Umbridge: “I think i misheard you. You said he does great in that class but he’s doing terrible in mine.” Minerva: “My mistake. I meant he does great when taught by a COMPETENT teacher.”
  • Fun fact: The actress who played Umbridge (Imelda Staunton) actually felt bad for Harry during the I Must Not Tell Lies scene. And just like the rest of us, even she thinks she's a deluded, bloody monster.

We were absolutely robbed of George and Harry beating the shit out of Draco and Fred being held back
  • the scene with the boggart and Molly is even more emotionally draining in the books. She literally had to witness all her loved ones' dead bodies. but when it turned into Fred and George, she saw both of them dead together. because not even in her wildest nightmares did she ever think they would be separated. makes Fred's death even more tragic.
  • Even though Umbridge barely resembles her book counterpart physically in looks, I couldn't care less, because Imelda Staunton was perfect for the role. You couldn't cast her better in my opinion.
  • @WickedRoze
Can we appreciate Minerva McGonagall for a second? She took FOUR STUNNING SPELLS to the chest from AURORS! She's absolutely phenomenal.
  • Idk if I´m the only one noticing this, but when Petunia explains how she knows about Dementors, she tells something along the lines of "I heard that awful boy telling *her*". Harry immediately thinks she´s talking about his parents, but Petunia is actually talking about Lily and Snape. In fact, Harry witnesses the exact moment when he sees Snape´s memories of Lily in Book 7
