Just heard on the news that the grand organ survived the fire! Not only have many of the beautiful visual aspects of the cathedral (cross, altar, relics, etc) survived, but it appears the original glorious sounds of the cathedral will someday return.

Thank you, Father. I'm a Parisian and believe me, we'll rebuild what we lost last night. Greetings from France 👋🏻

I'm french and yes, It's a very special day.. Thanks for this video

Fortunately, the structure, the altar, the cross, even the great organ and the vast majority of the relics and stained glass windows were saved, but the biggest loss is the frame that was still the original for 850 years and went up in smoke in space of a few hours. " The Forest", it was called since centuries. It was one of the oldest in the world, an inestimable rarity. Thanks for your words, you're the best.

Thankful for the outstanding job the firefighters did. What they pulled off in 8 or 9 hrs was a true miracle.
  • Thank you, Father. I live in Paris and your words are comforting. God bless you.

Thank you from France ! This event was terrible for our country and for us. But we are united. Christians and other religious people but also atheists are together as one nation. God bless you <3

I couldnt believe what i was seeing on the news,, ive visited and its incredible. The amazing thing that has happened from this,, it pulls all faiths and people together. All the best Father Roderick, thank you.
  • Thanks for these words and prayers Father, and thanks to all of you who posted so nice comments. I'm French and I have been very impressed by reactions all other the world. I am so grateful for this. Thanks to all non-believers who showed so much empathy. In France, it was amazing to see "communion" between political and opinion leaders, whatever their religious convictions are. As if despite dechristianization, there is still this absolute need of transcendance in our world; well this is my catholic viewpoint, sorry for that 😇 I will remember lots of images, but especially 2 : this red cross on fire on the evening (picture taken by a drone), and this shining cross in the morning. Such a metaphore in Easter Holy Week !

French here! Thanks for these sweet words father, hope you're good too, we will rebuild it!
  • I did take that beautiful shining golden cross as a sign from the Heavenly Father that all would be well. As I watched this devastation, I kept praying my rosary. Notre Dame means a lot to my family and, for us, when we saw the spire fall, my Dad said it was like watching the Twin Towers fall all over again. We all started crying and kept praying our rosaries then we saw that cross and we knew that everything would be all right. God be with Notre Dame and all who are touched by her. Amen.

I appreciate your perspective on this. I am not a Catholic or even a believer but I have an understanding of the significance of this cathedral and I was just as saddened as anybody to witness this event. Like yourself, I took those images from the interior as a hopeful sign. I know many things were indeed destroyed but I have complete faith that there will be a resurrection of this cathedral and this incident will one day be just another chapter in it's rich history.

Thanks you from France and thanks you for your support, this event is terrible and i hope there is no too much damage... We will rebuilt it for sure !
  • as french. even if you're not religious, notre dame is still a magic place. You can feel the history of entire france, your body reacts. for france is this a symbol of entire france. So everytime i pass the tears is comming. It can be hard for a nin french to understand but this is meaning so much for the french and humans performed more than expected when fighting the fire.
