CN Manifest with Rare SD70ACe-P6 DPU!

Published 2021-12-20
A short spot of railfanning along the CN Kingston Sub at Terrasse-Vaudreuil, QC brought along a less-than-common sighting. A lengthy CN manifest freight (likely CN 368) came pounding into the curve from the west. While the leading GEVO was nothing special, the mid-train DPU was a surprise: one of CN's few AC-equipped EMDs, an SD70ACe-P6! This unit is one of only a few of the type on CN's roster, having been purchased second hand from EMD-Progress Rail a number of years ago. Though now sporting the regular "CN.ca scheme", it previously wore a blue-silver-black patch livery, calling back its previous vocation as an EMD demonstrator unit.
