I don't think Sony/Marvel retconned the scene. It's probably the same location but now at their (Eddie/Venom) universe. The bartender has a short hair in the MCU, and in the Sonyverse he has long hair. Reminder that in No Way Home, many villains were teleported to the same location but on different universe. Hope that makes sense to everyone.

It's a different universe than the MCU where the Symbiote is there. The bartender has aged by 4 years, with his hair being longer, dressed different, and appears to not be a bartender, but a customer.

I think that the symbiote is still in the mcu he just captured it in the Sony universe and the mcu one is still lurking somewhere

DB, if you’ve seen 3c films video breakdown, with the symbiote situation, he says that Tom holland might still get the symbiote because the bar that Eddie left the symbiote in is the MCU’s bar and this is Sonys version of the bar with some minor differences, the MCU’s bar is a lot brighter while Sonys bar is not bright and the bar owner has longer hair than the MCU bar owner. Edit: For example, the post credit scene of Let There be Carnage, he is at Sony Hawaii and then gets transferred to the MCU’s Hawaii. Looks kind of the same, just two different universes.
