  • Performing amazingly for 40 years and still gets anxious and insecure, and feels unconfident. The mind is a freaking crazy thing. Rock on!
  • Admitting openly such thing as a frontman of one of the most legendary metal bands is a sign of a great courage.
  • He’s a perfectionist and sometimes ppl who are, struggle with anxiety.

James is the reason I ever picked up a guitar…and still the coolest man alive
  • I’m so happy that this man is so open with his struggles and fears. I saw the band last summer and Hetfield was magnificent to watch on stage. Speaking out doesn’t mean you’re weak, it means you’re human and like everyone else. He’s honestly one of my fave people. All the best to you Papa Het ❤️❤️🤘🤘
  • He’s an American treasure and his guitar playing has shaped the history of metal.

Imagine the slap in the face my friends and I received in '87 or '88 when, in my bedroom.. in a small French village, we listened to the Kill 'em All album for the very first time. I was 16. A few months and years later, my bedroom was wallpapered with their posters. Today, in 2024, my son is also a Metallica fan. My work is done ^^
  • They say "never meet your heroes"... James Hetfield is one of those heroes everyone absolutely should meet. Long live Metallica.

Just saw Metallica live in Italy few days ago, amazing concert! I think his voice aged like fine wine, very humble man

Traumatic childhood follows you all through life, Its that simple, yet not so simple to overcome,
  • NO ONE is alone. We all have our Metallica family! We love you. I love you!

Hetfield has been my metal hero since I was 5 years old. He changed my life in so many ways especially when I identified myself as a metal fan where other people look down when I was young. Now being older, it really pays to have that support system with you. My respect and support all goes to him.
  • Metallica was the first band I ever seen in concert when I was 15, one of the greatest nights of my life, been a fan since the 4th grade, I’m now 47 and can hardly see to write this comment, no judgment here my brother’s, thanks for the memories, God Bless 🤘

Considering James history with substance use, it's important for James to be open with his emotions because if he or others like him don't open up to let the pressure out, they may relapse or worse... Being vulnerable is no longer a sign of weakness but is now seen as a sign of strength because it just feels so liberating to push away these toxic emotions out of your head.

I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, and I don't wish it to no one. Only the people that have it know how it feels. I'm literally close to quitting my job cause of my anxiety it sucks man
  • Mad respect to James Hetfield. He is such an inspiration and I really feel his words when he, Lars, Rob and Kirk are on Stage in their 50's and 60's kicking ass and taking names. I applaud them for doing such amazing work.

We love you, James! You are enough, just the way you are! When you know you are enough, you will no longer be shackled by the question, "Am I GOOD enough?" We love you for YOU, just as you are!

Meanwhile Dave Mustaine is like: Feelings? I didn't know you had any feelings.

There’s definitely charm in someone as powerful and accomplished as Hetfield maintaining this level of humility, but I hope he doesn’t take it this far on a routine basis. He certainly deserves a decent level of contentment, and has every right to feel good about his contribution to music and beyond.
  • James is one of my favorite humans. They still sound amazing, they’re my favorite band and always will be.
