I am the commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true Emperor Marcus Aurelius, father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife – and I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
  • This video just saved my life, it has all the information i need for my 1000 word essay, and more! Thank you so much i will be sure to credit you in my sources, you absolute legend.
  • It's interesting that not many gladiators really died in the arena, they were essentially like modern day athletes and they were expensive to train

Actually I have seen multiple documentaries that claim gladiators ate mostly fruits/vegetables/and starchs bc they didn’t want to pay for meat for them. But it turned out it made them capable of insane athletic feats

Imagine beating everyone but getting the thumbs down still. (Yoda death sound)
  • Actually studies in gladiator remains showed they mainly lived on plant based diets and didnt really have luxuries such as meat.. also unlike how they are generally portrayed, they didnt tend to be very ripped and muscular and were often overweight (more body fat gives more protection to lacerations from blades/animals).

As much as it would churn my stomach I would give anything to go back in a time machine and watch an actual gladiatorial event.
  • 6:35 That was a beautiful line up of weapons and shields. I'll have to take a few screen shots of that. :)

man could you imagine being the biggest strongest and scariest man in your area and you become a gladiator, go into a match and your paired up against just a goliath of a man and just destroys you lol. i wonder how often that happened
