I was a teenager in 1997 and I will forever be grateful to my very strict mother who never let me trim my eyebrows to a thin line in a then fashionable way.

I knew a dude who shaved his eyebrows in army basic training. I learned then why we have eyebrows. Sweat. Sweat, my man. Dude was basically blind until they grew back.

I shave my brows sometimes simply because I like the “no brows” look. Sure it can be a weird taste for people but I love it.

shaving your eyebrows is extremely common among cosplayers & drag performers, as it’s quicker and easier to do so and draw on new brows than it is to try and cover the brows. this allows you to “reshape” your face, particularly around the eyes. i’ve been shaving off mine every now and then for a few years, and they’ve always grown back same as before.

That’s crazy! A few years back I could not stop shaving my eyebrows. Every time I saw a bit of stubble I eagerly shaved it off. I have OCD but I never knew there was an actual condition that would cause me to shave my eyebrows! It’s been six years since and I have the bushiest eyebrows in my family lol

I had a friend in elementary school who used to pull out her hair (and also bite the bulb for some reason). This began immediately after her parents got a pretty shocking divorce. She was such a beautiful girl and incredibly intellegent. She would just sit there in class yanking out her eyebrows like a bird pulling out her feathers. It got the point that she had a big bald patch behind her ear. She ended up developping a very serious eating disorder, got treatment and did very well. Shes now a young mom and teacher for underprivileged kids.

Congratulations on getting your eyebrows back! That must feel amazing!

i have very dark very bushy eyebrows and during 2020 lockdowns i first bleached them then shaved clean. had so much fun, ngl. they grew back fast, bit awkward looking at first, but the density was a saving grace. i'm glad i did it because shaving everything off (and not just the unibrow like usual 😅) totally changed direction of hair growth, it's easier to shape them now. it was like a reset. i don't get eyebrow dandruff anymore either lmao

I personally thought the look on you suited you very well. The best honestly. Since you are in the medical field, it gave you a very clean, cold, professional look. I’m happy you were able to grow your hair back, congratulations.

My Beautiful Grandmother plucked her eyebrows for years until they wouldn’t grow back or just a few little wispy hairs would grow, she had a tweezer nearby at all times to pull out any hairs that would sneak in, she would draw them on, as she lay in bed during her last days her son in law visited her to do her brows, makeup and hair, the ironic thing is she didn’t like him very much, I don’t know if she was aware that he was the one who kept her beautiful. I sure did love that old woman and miss her terribly.

Informative as usual! Dr. Gary, with or without hair, you are attractive. It's what comes from within that exudes from your soul and shines out thru your eyes, your expressions, your voice inflections and also how you remained steady throughout your hair loss journey. Quite impressive I might add. You were a perfect example of how to " carry- on". I'm happy that the tides are changing and you are regaining your hair. I'm sure you learned a lot in the past couple years that you may not ever have signed up for but wouldn't trade the wisdom gained....

I think it’s also a way for people to appreciate their natural features and enjoying the “base” part of your beauty. Eyebrows shape the face and that’s why everyone was struggling to regrow theirs to “look good” but now they are using that information to see how “good” they look without that added crutch.

As I aged I noticed that my eyebrows thinned out and got lighter and I had pretty much lost the tails to them. Then I had hair shedding and went on Minoxidil which stopped the shedding (yea!) but I also noticed one day that my eyebrows had regrown to their former youthful selves. Even the color was darker. I did not use the Minoxidil on my brows, just my scalp.

as someone who has had incredibly thick and dark eyebrows their whole life, i've been contemplating shaving them for fun lately, and this reassured me that it'll all probably be fine if i do! 😂 I was also considering waxing instead so it'd look "cleaner" and last longer, and now I know not to do that if i want full regrowth-- thanks for that!

I like my eyebrows, especially when I wear sunscreen when it’s hot and melts and won’t run into my eyes.
  • My grandmother shaved her eyebrows when she was a teen — and they never grew back. My entire childhood was, basically, waiting for her to finish her eyebrows, before we could go anywhere (sometimes, in the car, for better lighting) and her asking me if they were even — being she didn’t have any natural eyebrows to go off of. As well as had to wear glasses, when she put ‘em on — which, sometimes, got in the way of applying the eyebrows, lol. She ended up getting ‘em tattooed on, many years ago — and they still look quite nice, to this day. Though, hey.. All of that waiting around taught me the importance of having snatched eyebrows — and I have some of the best eyebrows I have seen on anyone, lol. Though, because of my health issues — it wasn’t until I started on BHRT progesterone and consuming more meat and animal products, that the ends of my eyebrows began to grow properly; as they have been very thin, the majority of my life.

Eyebrow shaving is an anti-beauty statement. It's a stylistic choice that doesn't cater to the male gaze at all.

At my early teen's I looked up to those goth girls who shaved or overplucked their brows. Tried to do the same but my mom freaked out about it and forbidded me (fairly enough). I totally forgot about it and by the time I've reached my twenties the full brows trend where already in vogue, wich I've tried to fit in for a time. What happens is that my brows are already thin and with little change in the hair density from the inner conner to the wing, wich lacked the drama I aimed for. So I finally decided to embrace my teenage eyebrow dreams despite of any fashion trends! In the last years I was waxing the tail of, wich gave me that goth kinda of intimidating look but also a canvas to eventually draw a new different arch with makeup. Now I'm on my hi-lo phase, so I regrew the tail but always plucking it thin to give that romantic 30's/70's look 🖤

I shape plucked mine at age 15yrs and they never grew back! I've regretted it ever since ... a verrrry long time now. The same happened to one of my nieces, despite begging her to never pluck hers.

My early 20's was an eyebrow free era. Loved how I could have stickers/rhinestones as an alternative eyebrow. I'd do it again but the grow out process was rougggh
