2:20 if you don’t want to watch the whole video
  • Before the actual sound of thunder, you could hear this sort of static pop. I can tell you that that's what we call "positive/upward streamers" in meteorology. There are multiple in an area on the ground when the lightning is about to strike, but only one connects with the streamer, resulting in the actual strike. So basically, if the lightning channel had connected to the one you heard, the lightning strike could've been even closer with some bad luck!

I randomly decided to watch this and I HEARD THAT NOISE BEFORE A LIGHTNING STRIKE TOO! I have no idea how close it was to me, but that was the most vicious and terrifying storm of my life. At the time it seemed like our house was almost hit by lightning, and I guess this proves it
  • You could hear it snap and pop!! Wow!!! Awesome catch there! ⚡⚡

That wasn't 100 yards! That was about 100 feet, my friend! Wooooooo. Crazy stuff.

Yep, been there myself. So close I could feel the heat from the bolt. My close strike was back in 2012. Bolt hit somewhere close by my apartment, I was on the door step filming and next thing I know there is a flash, a loud crack, and I'm running inside about to piss my pants from laughing so hard. 😅 fun night. 🤣
  • OMG!!! Right at the end.. WOW. What a catch ..lol..I was on edge waiting . If you would have stopped before that you would have missed it..

I, too, experienced a lightning struck at close range. There was a little electronic sound that sounds familiar to the games. The sound came like a second or so.

in my experience about really close lightning, that short “pop” sound before the actual lightning sound is from your electronic releasing a short static electricity caused by the lightning, and one of the example is your phone releasing its static electricity to your hands and actually shocks you (happens to me), so don’t hold your phone or any electric devices when there’s a really close lightning around you
  • Good ole lightening decided to give you a show for your camera! Pretty cool shot!

Ony time there was a lightning strike 4 houses to the right of where I live like 20 yards away you could feel the ground shaking
  • I could so listen to this on a 8 hour loop...until that dramatic ending there of course.
  • A 100 yards? According to my calculations the lightening hit that building 3/4 a mile away. Excellent catch 👍

It struck somewhere in my town, i checked the lightning tracker and it was near a pond!
  • I also experience a lightning strike near me, much closer than yours about 20 meters away. I didn't hear the static pop cause I was in a car
  • @drxm.
oh my goodness one of the best capture ive seen!
  • Did you record this for ASMR sleep sounds? I recognize this exact sound of rain and thunder. I use to have really bad anxiety, I still do. I turned a particular rain video on and slept in the fetal position every night.
