Imagine if this was in a contest and you were the guy after him...
-
I tried playing La Campanella. Now I'm sending this message from heaven.
-
I’ve never seen someone playing the piece like this. I’m deeply impressed.
-
this is what 36 years of being a prodigy gets you. this guy started at age three, and gave his first recital at 5 years old. he his a genius.
-
Lang Lang wasn´t nervous about the concert, the piano was
-
As a pianist myself, I cannot stress enough how hard this piece is. Some techniques in it are just unbelievably difficult, and the way Lang Lang manages to play them beautifully with such ease absolutely boggles my mind.
-
Has anyone noticed all other pianists make weird faces and sweat but this guy is just smiling through one of the hardest songs? But around the end he starts putting all his strength.
-
It's not just the technique, but also his confidence. He owns the stage
-
That sacrilegious clap at the beginning
-
Imagine playing this at your school talent show and not winning
-
3:53 ALWAYS gives me goosebumps.. every other pianist that I have heard has rushed those 2 notes by so fast, while Lang Lang.. damn.
-
10 years, and this man still proceeds to paralyze me with this song..
-
His fingers looks like Mr Krabs' legs when he walks
-
4:10 "10 minutes left on the final exam"

Lang Lang's style of playing doesn't always work on all pieces, but it works particularly well with Liszt, as Liszt was quite the drama performance piano artist himself. Good interpretation!

I'm blown away. I have no words to express how I feel after this performance. I've seen and heard dozens of variations and pianists play this, but this is on whole new level. Bravo ! Sadly, that I found out about Lang Lang only today. Better late than never.

Just look at him! He's always so chill and relaxed no matter what he's playing. He never gets stressed despite the difficulty or the action on the piece. And look at his face. He always has that face like "I don't really know what I'm doing, but it sounds good." never have I seen a more relaxed piano player, and think of that: he's playing liszt!!

Me: Will this kill my right hand or my left hand? La Campanella: yes
-
I'm always mesmerized how Lang Lang can play this song with such ease and he even improvises with more things..

Him slapping, not even playing, the g sharp at the end of the first section always gets me
