In The Black - UPCOMING Expanse Style Space Simulation Game!

I wish more Space Games would use realistic physics.
-
Flight model seems like Decoupled Mode in SC, probably can fly really well right away for me
-
Pleeeease make this an open-world sandbox game. I've been dying for an Expanse style, Elite Dangerous kinda game that takes place in the solar system
-
Remember me I-War for realistic Physics (1997)
-
FYI - this was originally called "STARFIGHTER INC" by Impeller Studios, and kickstarter funded. I am a backer and patiently waiting on this one ;)
-
Does this seem it would more a simulation than a game? I'd be curious if they have full HOTAS and TrackIR support for full immersion. Looks great though I've played Elite Dangerous on and off for a few years and have a big love for the expanse, this looks promising for sure.

This could be the VTOL-VR of space games if it supported VR.
-
Any sort of more realistic space sim has me hooked. I like realistic flight models where flying is truly skilful (see Flight of Nova), and a more ‘Expanse style’ game would really work for me. I just wish Elite Dangerous had been heavily invested in and a sequel was being developed, because that’s where the true potential is for the genre. The Daddy of space sims shouldn’t die out in the way it currently is.

One of the things I really like about Elite Dangerous is that it offers a single player mode and you can switch back and forth. I get sick of trying to do a mission or learn a new ship only to have some PK lowlife fly in and blast you for the fun of it, especially when you are just learning how to play. It is one reason why I dumped Star Citizen. Sometimes you just want to relax and enjoy the game without worrying about immature players. This looks pretty good.
-
It has strong Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos vibes. If you haven't played that you should get it. It is only 3 bucks in GOG.
-
Looks good but I don't think it needs to be put out in early access too early. I hope they get it polished up well before releasing it.
-
Please, make it Deck compatible!
-
so essentially it is a combat sim. Flight model is pretty much the same as non-assisted mode in many games starting from space engineers from what I can tell; although the degree of fidelity depends from how well the gravitational pull is simulated... One thing is to make everything mass-less and just slap thrusters on a ship, another is to simulate mass and gravitational pulls of different objects and interactions among objects, which is something very few games do because it is quite computationally intensive (and most players can't even tell the difference). Play something like Kerbal or Juno or Orbital and you can see what I mean
-
Hope it’s steam deck compatible even to a hassle to set up level. I love free space, the entire x series etc on the steam deck. Just wish there was a fast pace space flight sim akin to house of the dying sun with much more depth. The decoupled flight in this game looks fantastic

When I think of "realistic space combat", I tend to think of being in a paranoid submarine and freaking out when the fuel tank suddenly starts boiling because some asshole .5 light seconds away figured out my course and aimed a laser at me. This seems more like newtonian airplanes in space.
-
Please say they support VR?
-
It looks about as realistic as Asteroids in 3D. It looks like fun with some interesting tactics. But I wonder how a more realistic space battel game with kerbal-like orbital mechanics would be like. If you were dogfighting in orbit, you would be constantly worried about falling into the atmosphere or crashing into a Starlink satellite.

So not WW2 in space? I’m in!
-
Another cock on review … good to see intelligent input coming through from the gamers too… the clear blue water gap between LTG and other toobers gets ever wider
-
The flight characteristics are reminiscent of Babylon Five.... I am looking forward to this being a main game on Steam.
