Another day, another remake of some old classic. And in this case, it's the 1989 action thriller starring Patrick Swayze. And after watching all two hours of it, I just have to ask... why?

Director: And..... CUT! Conor McGregor: You guys were filming?

I love that we're supposed to believe a roughneck bar, where fights break out every day, would have a barista making artisan coffee. If there's one thing I know about organized crime syndicates, evil motorcycle gangs, and bar brawlers, it's that they love their Grande, Iced, Sugar-Free, Vanilla Lattes With Soy Milk.

At least I learned about Sydney Sweeney

McGregor walks about the whole movie as if he had a tree trunk under each arm

Best line in the movie McGregor: "Our own little octagon." Gyllenhaal: "Who taught you shapes?"

The comedy was top notch. Post Malone CGI fight scenes, McGregor walking around like he just did three lines of coke beforehand... Priceless
  • I quite liked it, it’s nice to switch my brain off occasionally and just enjoy some over the top ultra violence and and bit of the old in-out.

Mike Stoklasa recently predicted the end of Hollywood because younger people aren't interested in watching full-length films (because they don't have the attention-spans for it) and mature, older people are becoming so disenchanted by the current culture of the entertainment industry hellbent on warping and destroying IP's, that we'd rather re-watch our old favorites films and shows than watch whatever sludge they sh!t this week, which is always now accompanied by a divisive sociopolitical topic that only 5% of the audience cares about.

Jake Gyllenhaal has the perpetual face of just waking up and saying, “Alright, let’s get this day over with, I guess…”

I watched the movie thinking of Connor as a Chaos spirit and not a person and it made me like it better!

0:51 Funniest part is the villian is trying to an old-fasion shave on an obviously bumpy boat ride... and flipping out when it doesn't work.

As much as I like Jake Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze had a presence which is difficult to replicate.
  • "Thank God, sandwiches! Fooking famished." This line was so damn goofy that i quote damn near everyday.

this film gave me the overwhelming sense i was listening to a blackout drunk try to recall their blackout period and you just nod the entire time as they describe the plot of 2-3 random films from the hero pov. "no that's the plot of star wars. no that's the italian job. no that's nevermind i give up"

The fact they didn't say, "Is this some kind of Road House" is the biggest dissapointment of the entire year
  • @nobobynnobody
The literal definition of "roadhouse" is "an inn or club on a country road". This movie should be called "Tiki Bar".

It's actually amazing how any remake or reboot movie made today makes its older counterpart look like an award winning film despite the difference in technology and funding.😂

I thought it was a fun movie. Weak, script? Yes. Strange performances? Definitely. Plot points that went nowhere? Sure. But it made me laugh for two hours at the silly randomness of it all, and Dalton was a fun and sympathetic enough character this time around that he got a pass from me. It's the kind of film to go in with low expectations and just enjoy the ride. And that McGregor performance just can't be missed. Bizarre and hilarious!
