By the time the Imperium knew it was at war for the fourth time with the Tyrannids it was far too late.

One by one, lights went out on Imperial worlds and by the time the lumbering war machine connected the dots, Segmentum Pacificus was under seige.

The Imperiums answer was to create small, flexible forces called Solblades to enact Guerilla warfare with the Leviathan Hive Fleet tendrils to slow the approach of the main fleet.

This is the start of the story of how the Order of the Burning Shield committed their forces to the conflict
