The Apple TV 3 - in 2021

Straight forward and engaging, great job. I have an Apple TV 3 myself and it's still running at its best after 8 years or so.

Just purchased mine, as a light TV user (and a non-4K tv user) this is just what I needed!

As a person with a bedroom viewsonic M2e mini projector with a 3rd Gen Apple tv laying around, it was nice to see what functionality if any I could get out of it and airplay from my MacBook pro is perfectly what I was hoping for. Sadly no bluetooth means no home kit functionality. The native Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, and Apple TV+ apps are the ones I use most. No new Apps means sadly no Disney PLUS... but for that I watch Apple4k w/4K tv & sound bar. One other feature that is great with the apple tv is that it does use the OG HomePod to fantastic effect for a solid sound bar type feel. Thanks again for the info.

Good work putting this old beauty into a good review. However I will retire this great device and purchased the new Gen 6. So excited how fast this beast will be 😅

Yo! Have you tried airplay a video from your personal camera roll? Just 1080 is unwatchable and I wonder if it’s just mine?

I'm annoyed that Apple TV 3 stopped supporting YouTube. My 3rd generation Apple TV runs just fine and I have no plans to buy a new model but the YouTube app no longer works. I'm so sick of perfectly good technology being made obsolete just so companies can sell me new stuff and make more money.

Thank you helped me out and me be older person! I have a I phone SE 64GB 2020 but have a Sony smart tv! You helped me out a lot with the airplay! Also I do have a tablet by Samsung too! My problem is some shows will play well ! But sometimes it buffers around but I think it’s where I live! I was Abel in April too watch Yellowstone but now on the tv it will not play but it will on my phone if you or anyone can me out why it’s not working would be awesome cause I am very worried I won’t be able to watch season 4 on my TV ! Thanks for your time and you help !

As you said most apps are already on your smart TV. I use my old Apple TV to stream music from "Music" (formerly iTunes) on my computer to my Hi fi in another room. It worlks well.

Got my gen 3 when it first came out and it still runs perfect! I still use the preinstalled Netflix app without any problems. For sure a good purchase at the time.

Just purchased a 2nd hand gen 3 and can no get air drop to work, it will connect to the internet, but will not allow me to play anything from my 13 pro max, have the outdated the gen 3 for newer phones?

Where did you get apps like Youtube or Disney Channel on the Apple TV? I don't even have youtube. Is there a trick? Do the apps vary for different regions that can be set?
